An hour later I was pacing the living room, having changed into black drawstring pants and a white t-shirt. Isobel had been upset at leaving the party until she heard about the attack and then she became worried. Brooke and Konrad had been very alarmed at what had happened and Konrad had been in his office making phone calls while Brooke had made some tea before joining me and Isobel in the living room. Sarina stood by the window, alert and ready in case anyone tried to get in.

"Should I try calling him?" I asked, wincing when I realized I was asking for the fifth time.

"No," Sarina said in a patient voice. "It would distract him. If there is trouble, they can handle it or they will call Alpha Konrad."

I sighed and nodded.

"Have some tea, Liana," Brooke urged. "You need to try and relax."

"How can she when someone tried to kidnap her?" Isobel punched the pillow next to her. "I hope they find whoever it was and tear him apart."

"Isobel," Brooke sighed.

I couldn't help but laugh. "Bloodthirsty little thing, aren't you?" I teased.

Isobel shrugged and gave me a grin.

I continued pacing. "What if he's hurt?"

"You would know," Brooke told her. "You need to concentrate on your bond. Focus. What is he feeling?"

I paused, focusing on the bond I and Zev shared. I was still learning how to control it. I tentatively reached out to him. Zev?

Liana? Are you all right?

Yes, but I'm worried about you...

I'm fine, I'll be home soon...

Have you found him?

No...

I could feel the frustration Zev felt and wished he was home so I could hug him. "He didn't find the guy. He's on his way home."

"Wait, you can mind link already?" Brooke asked in surprise.

I nodded.

"Wow, that usually doesn't happen that fast," Brooke said, clearly impressed. "Usually mates just start out being able to sense the other's feelings."

Konrad entered the room just then. "So far, no one I've contacted has seen any new wolves around." He told us, clearly frustrated.

"Does it happen often? New shifters showing up?" I asked curiously.

"Rarely. Occasionally a lone wolf will show up, usually just passing through or they're curious about joining a pack." Konrad answered. "However, there has been no sign of anyone new."

"Someone from the Lone Creek Pack?" Brooke asked after a moment.

"That's what I want to find out. I've contacted Raulf for a meeting tomorrow," Konrad said, his eyes darkening.

"Raulf is the Alpha of the Lone Creek Pack," Isobel informed me.

I nodded. I remembered being told that when Konrad had told me about my mother almost marrying him.

"Raulf will need to question his pack about what happened and I want to be there to make sure he asks the right questions," Konrad said.

"I'd like to go with you," Zev said as he entered, Rafe, Nash, and Colt following. He immediately headed for me.

I happily stepped into his open arms, relieved he was home and safe.

"Of course," Konrad said.

I tilted my head to the side in thought. "I should go too."
