Chapter 25

"Hakuto!" I wake up from another dream, gasping Hakuto's name. I immediately scratch at my neck, the sudden wave of panic, confusion, and unstableness playing with my mind.

"Takana, shake,"

[It's okay]

I look to my right and see Inumaki, looking concerned. Since when was he here? Actually, why is he here? I shake my head and run a hand over my hair. I'm sweating, tiny beads rolling down my neck and back. My breathing is still shallow, and I'm sure Inumaki can hear the sound of my heart thumping against my ribs. I take in slow breaths to try and calm myself down.

It doesn't work, "Hakuto... Hakuto..." I mutter his name as if it is a spell that can bring him back from the dead.

[Who's Hakuto?]

I look at Inumaki. I guess it's normal for him to wonder, but I decide to stay silent. He hasn't asked the question out loud, after all. Just then, a small knock comes from outside.

"Yeah..." I say, granting permission for whoever to enter.

"Haneki~" It's Gojo-sensei and Fushiguro.

"Ah, you're awake. you seemed to have trouble in your sleep, so I made Toge make sure you wouldn't try and kill yourself after you woke up," He explained, pointing at Inumaki. He then walks up to me and pats my head.

"Seems like it was a good decision," Gojo-sensei says while looking at the small blood stains on the sheet below me.

"I'm fine," I take another deep breath and stand up, leaning on the wall to support myself. Gojo-sensei looks at me with the words 'yeah right' stuck to his face.

"Don't push yourself," Fushiguro whispers, advising me.

"None of your business," I whisper back, a small smile on my face. He puts on an annoyed face.

Gojo-sensei clears his throat and points at us one by one, "Anyways, you three are gonna do something for me,"

"Why?" I ask.

"Think of it as a celebration of your recovery," He beams a smile.

"Toge and Megumi, you two, go down to the basement, two new students will be waiting for you," He instructs, "Just give them a small tour,"

"Shake?" Inumaki asks, looking excited.

[New students?]

Gojo-sensei gives him an equally excited nod.

"And you," He points both his fingers at me, "follow me," He walks out of the door, going in the opposite direction of the basement, where Fushiguro and Inumaki trail off to.

"What am I doing?" I ask, making sure to make the laziness in my voice obvious.

"More training," Sensei shoots me a grin, "With me, your amazing Sensei. You can thank me later,"

"Shouldn't have asked..." I mutter, rolling my eyes.

Time Skip

After close to two hours of personal training, I learned how to fight better and how to control how I regenerate. Meaning; I have almost full control of Itami's powers and I can use his powers as my own. Pretty neat.

As Gojo-sensei and I head back into the building, I notice Inumaki and Fushiguro walking around with a girl I never saw and... a panda?

"Toge! Megumi!" Gojo-sensei waves a hand, calling the four of them over. I take a step backward as they approach.

"You...!" The green-haired girl glares at me. She has on round glasses and her hair is tied up in a high ponytail. I flinch as I take another step back. She walks around my frozen body, and her eyes are locked onto mine.

[There's a Cursed Spirit inside of her...!]

"This is Haneki," Gojo-sensei introduces me to her, flinging an arm around my shoulders, "She's a little... vigilant, so she might not open up that easily,"

"Hmm," The girl shoots me an unreadable look one last time before stepping back.

"Anyway, this is Zenin Maki, one of our new students," He points at her.

"Just call me Maki," She says, sounding bored, yet cautious of me.

[Call me Zenin, and I'll kill you]

I gulp, and nod. I'm sure she'll actually kill me if I call her by her last name.

don't get me wrong, I like Maki. i just figured her attitude will be like that on their first meeting :)
