Afraid To Die Alone (Remus Lupin)

Marley's first instinct was to run and that was exactly what she tried to do but before she made it past him, Remus Lupin had hooked his arm around the girls waist and brought her back to where she was previously standing.

"Now I would recommend you stay right there and not try to run again." He scolded.

"It was worth a shot." Marley slurred and brought the bottle of fire whiskey up to her lips ready to take another swig of it. But before she was able to Remus Lupin had grabbed the bottle from her and gave her and unimpressed look.

"Now you are coming with me to..."

"I wasn't done with that." Marley said bluntly as she eyed the bottle in Lupin's hand. She made an attempt at grabbing it but it was no use as she fell into the man's chest instead. He instantly wrapped his free arm around her waist to prevent her from falling over.

"You smell nice." Marley mumbled into his chest.

Remus heard footsteps coming and quickly ushered the girl through a classroom door and shut it behind her as he talked to the person who was roaming the halls. Marley pressed her ear up against the wooden door to try hear what they were saying. But had no luck.

A couple minutes later Remus opened the door and Marley fell onto the floor causing the man to sigh.

"You know this isn't healthy drinking this much." Remus said as he crouched down to the girl who was laying on the floor in heaps of laughter.

"I'm of age I can drink as much as I want." Marley retorted.

"Not on school grounds you can't."

"Professor." Marley said sitting up pointing her finger at his chest.

"When you were my age I'm sure you used to get loaded drunk as-well. Am I right or am I right." Marley laughed falling back onto the floor.

Lupin moved closer to her and looked down at her face "The difference between you and me is that I didn't get caught." Lupin spoke lowly with a mischievous glint in his eye. Marley just gulped not expecting the close proximity of her Professor.

"Well we must get you back."Lupin said as he lifted her up of the ground. As the two walked back Marley couldn't help but think about her Professor being so close to her just moments before. Everything about him was intoxicating to her. He was the only person she has met that has made her render speechless.

Before she walked through the portrait she turned to him and asked " Why didn't you send me to Dumbledore?"

"Why would you think I would?"

"Well first of all you don't like me and second of all every other teacher would." Marley whispered as she stared into his eyes waiting for him to say he's joking and drag her to Dumbledore by the ear like Snape would of.

"I remember being your age too Ms Potter and I'm not going to bring you to Dumbledore for drinking when you are of age. But that doesn't mean I won't the next time." Remus told her.

As Marley turned to walk into the common room. Remus called after her "And Marley I do like you, don't think otherwise." Lupin said his gaze softening as he looked at her.

Marley smiled and bid the professor good night.

"What the fuck was that." Marley said to herself as she slowly climbed the stairs up to her room still unsteady due to the large amount of alcohol in her system.

"Never have I ever in all my years teaching ahave I had to punish students for throwing a party and condoning underage drinking while on school grounds." Mcgonagall scolded the group students ranging from fifth to sixth years.

Marley was too busy trying not to throw up due to her raging hangover to even listen to what the women had to say to them. 

"I am very disappointed in the lot of you. What do you call this example you are setting for the younger years." Professor Mcgonagall said as she looked around at all the students in disbelief.

Marley stood up before Mcgonagall finished giving out to the group and started to slowly walk make her way out the great hall.

"And where do you think your going ms Potter I am not finished here."

Marley slowly but surely turned around. "I'm sorry Minnie but I'm just making my way over to the bin to throw up. Keep shouting I'm listening."

Marley started to make her way back down the hall doors where the closest bin was when she bumped into Professor Lupin who was after making his way into the hall.

"Sorry professor I was just on my way....." Marley didn't get to finish her sentence as she threw up all over Lupin.

"Holy shit" Caspian spoke out as everyone in the hall witnessed Marley throw up on their defence against the dark arts professor.

"Well that wasn't how I was expecting my morning to go." Lupin said to break the silence.

"Oh fuck me." Marley muttered after recovering from throwing up. The only sound that could be heard was Caspian's laughter while everyone stared in shock.

"I'm going to bed." Marley stated and slowly made her way out the great hall as everyone watched. Not one Professor made an attempt to stop her as they too were silenced by the whole predicament.

All Marley could hear was Caspian's laughter as she walked away from the great hall.
