Chapter Two: The Varia

Thank the gods it was Saturday! Tsuna was more than done with his classmates and teachers. He was especially done with Nezu-sensei. He was so tired of everything, but that wasn't going to stop Tsuna from waking up at the unholy hour of 6:30am. He had nothing to do today, so he figured he'd look more into why the greatest hitman in the world and a hacker for a top notch Famgilia were in Namimori, Japan. But first, he wants to get a cat. Tsuna had wanted a cat for a while, but he couldn't ever find an excuse to get one. Now, he figured he'd need someone to keep him from going insane, especially because the Mafia was going to be so close to him from now on. How naive.

An explosion sounded off in the distance as he closed the gate, but he brushed it off. 'I guess Sun-chan's starting his primary task.' He is beyond aware of the fact that the Sun Arcobaleno would absolutely castrate him if he ever heard the name 'Sun-chan' in context of referring to him, but Tsuna couldn't bring himself to care. If he wanted to kill him, he could sure as hell try.

Other than the occasional explosions and the now constant yelling and screaming heard throughout the small town, it was a peaceful day. The sky was clear and the sun was shining bright. There weren't too many people on the streets, nor was there a suspiciously low number of people out and about. All in all, it was a good day to get a cat.

His first stop was the pet store on the other side of town. Once there, he would buy two - one for his room, the other for the main room - cat trees, a few cat toys, a feeding bowl, a water bowl, a dog bed, and a bag of cat food. He'd have to go to another store to get the type of cat he wanted, so that was a tomorrow thing. 'Maybe I'll get a bird cage, too.' Shaking his head to pull himself back to reality, Tsuna put his wallet in his left back pocket, grabbed his house keys and shopping list, and left the house.

The walk to the pet supplies store was uneventful and uninterrupted. He knew he wouldn't be able to get it all home by himself, so he paid a bit extra to have it all delivered to his house within the next twenty-four hours. The cashier was nice, so he had no doubts that his stuff would be delivered quickly and safely. Now done in the shop, he decided to go to that sushi place again and get something to eat.

Again, the walk was peaceful, but Tsuna had the feeling that something was going to happen. He didn't exactly know what was going to happen, nor when it was going to happen. All he could tell was that something was going to happen. Whether it was good or not was a completely different question that he had no plans on asking at the moment. He learned a long time ago that he normally doesn't like the answers to those kinds of questions.

He walked briskly through Namimori. He was done with his shopping for the day, so the rest of the time was free. Normally, he'd spend his free time reading in his house, but he'd recently finished all of the books he had....for a third time. He idly wondered if he should stop by the book store to get some more. Tsuna shrugged. 'If I end up heading that way, then I get some more books. Maybe some language books?'

An explosion a little ways down the road made him jump in place. Looking around, the brunet got nervous when he noticed the distinct lack of people around him. "That's not a good sign." he sweatdropped, "I wonder what's going on?" He would forever deny any curiosity he felt in this moment. The following events - as he stated in future recollections - are to be blamed on the influence the tiny voice in his head has over him. (Saying it aloud, though, made him sound insane.)

Upon arriving at the scene, Tsuna greatly wished he hadn't gone to investigate. He knew better than to let his curiosity get the better of him! He just couldn't help himself! "Curiosity killed the cat." he whispered to himself as he hid behind the corner of a building.
