Chapter Seven: Day One: Tour

It was early the next morning when the mansion came to life after the night ended. Tsuna both despised and liked the fact that he had managed to get some sleep despite the potentially hostile company he was at the mercy of. Part of him knew that nothing would happen to him under the Vongola's care, but the other part of him was still on edge because of the year he spent with the Estreno.

While waiting for the others in his room to wake up, he passed the time by texting Shoichi. He was mostly just making sure that his red haired friend was doing okay and was taking care of Luna. The hacker had joked that Tsuna was only messaging him to make sure his princess was okay and that he didn't actually care how he was doing. Tsuna refused to deny or confirm such an accusation and they both had a good laugh out of it.

Tsuna had next texted Xanxus to see what he and the others were up to. He knew they would be in Italy this week, but he didn't know when or why or if he'd be able to see them, so he settled for texting the group. They had all - mostly Xanxus - stated their dissatisfaction that he was in the Vongola Mansion, but had all conceded that he hadn't had much of a choice in the matter.

In a group chat with all of them, Shoichi had offered up the idea of Tsuna having to fly back home to Japan for a family emergency. It was shot down, however, by Squalo when he pointed out that Nono and Ieyasu would both know he's lying which, in turn, would put more suspicion on Tsuna. Mamon helpfully pointed out that Rebron would be keeping an even closer eye on Tsuna when he found out the brunet was lying. It wasn't a question of 'if' and that made them all a bit nervous. Except Mamon, but that's because they stand on a similar - if not the same - level as Reborn in terms of overall strength.

"I think it's already too late for that." Tsuna had sent a few minutes after the hitman woke up his student, "He's been watching me like a hawk ever since he woke up!"

"You mean he's in the room with you?!" Shoichi freaked out.

"Yeah but I don't think the civilians know."

"You are a civilian." Levi pointed out.

"I haven't been a civilian since before I can remember." Sensing more stares on him, he quickly sent, "I have to go. Reborn and Sawada are staring at me for some reason." Turning off his phone, he turned to look at the blond and the hitman with a tilt of his head. He didn't speak, though.

"Who, ah...Who're you texting?" Sawada asked, extremely awkwardly.

Tsuna wanted to sigh, but he didn't. Stupid Varia for coming into his life and making him feel emotions. "A friend."

"About..?" the blond prompted.

He didn't sigh, but he did look at his phone again. "Making sure my cat is okay."

"You have a cat?"

"Yes. Is that so strange?"

"No! I mean...no, it's not. I just didn't expect-" he cut himself off and cleared his throat. "What breed is it?"

Now this was a topic Tsuna could get behind. Though, he did find it strange that Reborn was being fairly docile. "She's a Maine Coon kitten, barely a year old."

Sawada seemed to have gained some confidence now that Tsuna was showing any kind of emotion, though he was still put off by the fact that he was very quiet and only giving the bare minimum in answers. "What's her name? What colour is she?"

"Her name's Luna, and she's pure white and has the prettiest grey eyes."

"Really? Can I meet her?"

Tsuna - who had unknowingly opened himself up slightly in posture and emotion - closed in on himself again, folding his arms in front of his chest and looking slightly to the side of the blond. "I don't think so." he answered, "At least not now. After all, this is really the only full conversation we've had."
