Chapter Three: Information is Valuable
Tsuna had long since managed to reign his emotions and expressions back, as well as communicate with his new roommates that he would not be speaking very much for the duration of their stay. The first day was a fluke; nothing more, nothing less. Of course, the assassins that had decided to make his home theirs didn't believe a word of it, but let it slide for the time being.
When Shoichi had come over the first night, mere hours after the Varia had locked down their decision to stay, he nearly passed out from the pain his stomach was causing. Apparently, he thought Tsuna was going to be laying low for a while. According to all common sense - that should've been long abandoned by now - having a group of assassins who are affiliated with the strongest Mafia Family staying in your house is not 'laying low'. Tsuna begged to differ.
"So," the redhead asked the assassins, "What brings you to Japan?"
"Moh," the Mist spoke up from their seat, "You'll have to pay for that information."
Shoichi sweatdropped but didn't say anything more as he waited for his brown haired friend to come back. Tsuna had gone to the kitchen to make tea, leaving the assassins and the hacker to their own devices. A decision none were really happy about, but they weren't going to tell Tsuna. In the short amount of time they'd all known the brunet, they'd grown to trust him, if only a little bit.
"Which Family are you affiliated with?" Lussaria asked politely. It wouldn't do to not learn anything about Tsuna's friend, especially if they were going to be seeing more of him during their stay in the young child's home. Besides, information was valuable.
Shoichi knew what the Sun was doing and decided to take a page out of Mamon's book. "Sorry, but you'll have to pay for that information." He ignored the raised eyebrows and looks of amusement. "Information is precious, after all."
Xanxus snorted. This brat was funny. "Fine, we'll do this your way. Information for information. I'm Xanxus of the Varia."
"An honest exchange that will most certainly be fact checked later on?" The red-head sat up straighter despite his discomfort. This was, after all, a Mafia dealing now. "I'm Shoichi of the Milfiore."
"I was raised in the Mafia."
"I was pulled into it by a friend."
"I'm in Namimori to scope things out."
"So am I."
The answers were vague on both sides to the surprise of no one. Although everyone knew that all the revealed information would be fact checked later on, therefore producing more answers and/or questions, no one intervened. The most surprising thing was that Shoichi had locked eyes with Xanxus and had yet to break eye contact.
"Shoichi-san?" Tsuna quietly cut the exchange off by tapping the red-head on the shoulder, "Will you come help me for a moment?"
"Of course?" Shoichi managed to keep himself calm until he got into the kitchen. Once out of sight of the Varia, he allowed himself to crumple. "Thanks for getting me out of there."
"No problem. Though, they're staying here for a bit, so you'll probably end up interacting with them quite a bit. It'll be in everyone's best interest for you all to get along."
Shoichi sighed but didn't say anything. While he wasn't publicly a member of a Famiglia, he still shouldn't allow himself to be caught with hostels, lest there be a miscommunication. The Milfiore are a neutral Famiglia and none of its members should ever be seen with anyone outside their group unless there is a public and well known alliance with them. The only Famiglia he's technically allowed to be seen with is the Giglio Nero who are also of neutral standing.
