Chapter Fourteen: Meetings
"Reborn," Timoteo yawned, "It's too early for this. I hope you have a good reason for waking us so early?"
Reborn scoffed lightly. "A mafia boss should always rise before his subordinates."
Timoteo waved his hand as if erasing the words for the air. "I know, I know. But I'm old, I have an excuse."
An eyebrow raise. "Oh, really? All of your visitors from Japan are awake and eating already. You're doing a damn good job at being a horrible host."
The old Sky rubbed the bridge of his nose. "Did you wake us up just to lecture me about waking up early? The mansion doesn't start basic operations until ten."
"That's the mansion and its staff, Timo," Reborn lectured, "You're the boss, so you need to start working before everyone."
Brow Nie Jr. decided it was a good time to move this meeting along. "Can you get to the point please?"
Slightly upset that his fun had been thwarted, the glint he gained from his conversation with Tsuna less than an hour prior returned in full force. "Yes, I'm following up with our discussion about a particular student."
"That Tsunayoshi kid?" Visconti asked.
"Yes. I had an interesting conversation with him this morning."
"Oh?"
"The kid has no filter in the morning, so he let slip that his earliest memories are of the Estreno Labs." There was a collective intake of breath, not quite gasps, from around the table. "He also knows that I'm an Arcobaleno. Or, at the very least, what Flames I wield." He finished off his coffee. When had he gotten that? "It's safe to assume he knows about all of you, and possibly my student and his Guardians. I also wouldn't think it a stretch to assume he's in contact with the Varia."
That was a lot to process this early in the morning and without any tea or coffee. Putting everything aside, though, Bouche asked, "Why do you think he's in contact with the Varia?"
"Earlier this morning, he got a message on his phone. I didn't get a look at it, but by the way he was acting and talking, someone he's in frequent - dare I say, friendly - contact with has followed him to Italy."
"If you're right," Schnitten's voice was slow as he processed everything, "Then there's a possibility that the Varia are back in Italy."
Timoteo let out a long-suffering sigh. Why couldn't things have gone his way for once? Also, why wasn't his Hyper Intuition saying anything? Sure, his wasn't nearly as strong as Vongola Primos, but it had still warned him of dangerous situations at the very least. Was the Varia being in Italy not right? Or was it that they meant no harm? Impossible. Xanxus and his Guardian's were always out for blood.
"Has Iemitsu even looked at your messages yet, Ganauche?" the old Sky asked.
The man shook his head. "No, not yet."
Another long sigh. "Alright. I don't care if you have to storm his office, get Iemitsu over here. Kicking and screaming if you have to." Reborn smirked in sadistic glee. "Everyone else, keep an even closer eye on Tsunayoshi. I want hourly reports on what he's doing and who he's talking to. If he gets on his phone, his messages become our's to see."
A round of general consensus was followed by everyone leaving the room to do their tasks. It was too late for breakfast. Brow Nie Jr. took it upon himself to give the kids a quick cover story. When he reached the room, his eyes found the brunet in question before flitting along to look at everyone else. If this kid was mafia raised, then looking at him any longer than a second would put his defences up.
