"Y/n.." your captain calls out

"Yes sir?"

"You're in the North tower tonight."

"... the S class inmates?" You stammer with the hair raising on the back of your neck.

The tower of the north holds the most vile, ruthless, disgusting, terrifying criminals that are on death row. According to protocol everyone has to wait 90 days post employment before they are scheduled to work there, today was your 90th day on the dot.

Boy... you guys don't waste no time

"You will report to captain Miller at the entrance to the north tower, there he will brief you on the protocols and the rules.... The rules are different over there, make sure you stay sharp." He dismisses you so you can head over to the gate of the north tower.

After clearing security and credentials you were greeted as promised by a charming older silver fox.

"Good evening Ms. y/n and welcome to the north tower" he welcomes you motioning behind him and there was nothing there, we were standing inside of an empty tower. Confusion struck you as you looked around wearily

"Where are the inmates?" You asked

"No one told you?"

"Told me what?"

"The inmates are all underground..."

*gulp*

So I'm stuck here..... underground.... With the most dangerous criminals

Captain chuckles after hearing your obnoxiously loud gulp

"Don't be so nervous, there are only 3 inmates in this tower"

But you knew those 3 were equivalent to hundreds, easily.

He guides you towards the elevator and on your way down he explains your duties

"Every inmate is assigned their own corrections officer in this tower and must be relieved personally, so in the future if you come down here and no one is waiting to switch out with you, sound the alarm.
You will have the floor to yourself during your shift."

"Why so much exclusivity?"

"Because if one of these bastards break out, it would be difficult for them to escape quickly which would give us time to stop them. The inmate you're assigned tonight is blind, but don't let that fool you he's trained his other senses so they've heightened his agility."

After switching out with the other co you were left alone in the control room. Since it was night shift you only had to serve one meal and then could sit around and read/ watch tv. But you were curious as to who the inmate was that you were in charge of. He laid in bed with his face turned away from the cameras but his dark red hair really called out to you, his name didn't seem familiar but curiosity bugged you.

A peep wouldn't hurt

After you received his dinner tray, you slid his tray through the small door and waited for him to grab it. You waited about 5 minutes and he didn't budge. Did he die or something?

"You're new" you heard a faint voice speak out from in the cell. Your eyes widened when you realized what the captain meant when he said his other senses have heightened.
