Pre-Birthday Celebrations

Chapter One

Maria POV

Ugh. School. I forced myself to wake up and get ready. I showered and since it was almost summer, I put on a neon yellow tank top with some jean shorts. Next I went and threw my hair up in a messy bun.

"Maria! Hurry up!" I heard my best friend Ashley yell.

"Okay, okay! I'm coming! Calm your tits Ashley!" I hollered back at her.

I ran out to her car, which is a purple dodge charger. When I got in she took off because as it was, ?we were going to be late for school.

"So aren't you excited? You're turning 18 tomorrow! You're gonna shift and find your mate! Ooo and be able to shift anytime you want!"

Jeez she's excited for me. Sometimes I wonder if she has ADHD. I've actually asked her family before if she did! but unfortunately I found out she didn't.

"Yeah yeah, I'm excited and all, but you're obsessing over it being my birthday! Calm down a little please. You're giving me a headache," I replied to her.

"Ugh fine I will try but NO promises," Ashley finally agreed.

In the next minute we arrived at school and I was greeted by a very familiar pair of ocean blue eyes. It was none other than my best guy friend Dylan. Normally he had at least one girl hanging all over him because apparently he was "hot". He had a six pack, ocean blue eyes, brown hair in a quiff, and was majorly popular because he was the star quarterback for our schools football team, the Huskies. As for me well I only saw him as a best friend.

"HAPPY DAY EARLY BIRTHDAY!!!!" Dylan screamed into my ear. Damn this guy could be loud.

"God! Could you be any louder dude?! You're gonna make me go deaf and you don't want that now do you?"

"No.." he responded.

"Good. Where are the usual slutty girls that tend to always be hanging on you?"

"Uuh? I got here early and hid away from them so I could visit my absolutely best friend in the whole wide world?" He attempted to lie.

I just went along with it knowing I would be able to get the full story out of him in less that five minutes.

"Yeah that's totally it, now why did you get here "early"? You never even get here on time so something's gotta be up."

"Uh, so you know how I shifted like 2 weeks ago for the first time? Well, I kinda sorta found my mate and now she just moved here and goes to our school, so I want to make a good impression on her." Dylan babbled on about it for about 10 minutes more. I got bored so I just tuned him out.

"MARIA! ARE YOU EVEN LISTENING TO ME?" He screeched in my ears.

"What, no I'm not you talk way to much so I just zone out after about two seconds of you talking."

"Fine whatever, let's just go to English class. Maybe she's in there with me...." He went into lala land again.

I had to literally drag his ass out of the hallway and into our classroom and force him to sit down. It was not easy since he was a guy, and had muscles that made him that much heavier.

As usual my day went by like it was a snail trying to lose to a turtle by going its slowest if that makes any sense. My point is the time went by so slow, multiple year could've gone by and I could've lived through them all.

Once it reached the end of the day, I got out of my seat and practically ran to my next class. It was gym and I absolutely loved it! All of my friends were in it.

When I got there I ran over to my group of friends, Dylan, Ashley, Blake, Jason, Alex, Caroline, and Chase. Then I noticed some unknown girl standing with us. Oh, this must be Dylan's mate! I went to introduce myself.

"Hi! My name is Maria!" I stated excitedly.

"Hey I'm Arianna, but you can call me Ari and if you haven't figured it out by now I'm Dylan's mate." She responded kindly.

Hmm, she might be pretty cool to hang out with. Just before I could answer Ari, our gym teacher Mr. Johnson yelled at everyone to join together so he could introduce the new unit we were starting.

"Alright everyone! Today we will be starting our weight lifting unit." Mr. Johnson explained. All the human girls groaned. For me and my friends it wasn't a big deal since we're werewolves. Our stamina was higher than most people's. We started that unit and it ended just as fast as it started.

"Finally!!! The day is OVER." Jason yelled as loud as he could. We heard a few people snicker at that statement.

"ASHLEY LETS GO" I screamed at her even though she was right next to me.

"Jeez could you be any louder Maria?"

"Yes, yes I could be Ash. Would you like me to be?"

"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO"

"Well okay then. Now lets go."

We started walking outside to her car and got in and drove back to my place.

"You're gonna miss me tomorrow at school! You know you will." I said, winking at her.

"Yeah, yeah, oh course I will, you're my BEST FRIEND"

"YAAAAAAAYYY im looooooved" I screamed like a little girl.

"Yeah yeah whatever now just go inside and text me later okay? I still need to get your birthday present so leave!"

"Well maybe if you spent more time with me and Dylan, then you would remember this kind of stuff."

"Well sorry. Would you like to go get some ice cream as a pre-birthday celebration?"
