Chapter Ten
Maria POV
"Aaahhh! Caden stop it! " He wouldn't give in and instead just continued tickling me.
"Caden if you don't stop I won't sleep in the same bed as you anymore!!" That stopped him almost immediately.
"You wouldn't dare!" His hands thrown up to his mouth in surprise.
"Oh, but I would just try me!" My arms crossed over my chest and I stood with as much sass as I could in the water.
He threw his hands up in surrender. I had to admit this was pretty funny to watch.
"I surrender! I surrender! You win! Now let's get out and eat some food."
We climbed out of the water and I was quickly given a towel. Caden grabbed my hand and led me to the table that was set up close by. Caden pulled my chair out for me like a perfect gentlemen.
"Have a seat my lady."
"Thank you kind sir!"
We burst out laughing at how horrible our impressions that were supposed to be "formal" were. We couldn't stop laughing for a good five minutes and by then there was food in front of us! I never even saw someone bring it to our table.
I looked at the food in front of us and it was just typical picnic food. It consisted of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, lays original chips, and surprisingly, grape juice boxes.
We ate in silence because we were both stuffing our faces with food. When we finished our food, another pack member brought out our dessert. It was in a fancy tray that had been covered up so I couldn't see what it was. The pack member set it on the table and left promptly.
Caden took the tray top off and there were a bunch of fortune cookies! They were each dipped in chocolate and sprinkles. The sprinkles were all different colors and I was handed a purple one while he got the green one. We at them and I read my fortune.
"Something good will happen to you today," I read out loud, "What's yours say?"
"Mine says 'Be true to who you are'," he replied, "Here want another one?"
"Sure!" I reached my hand out, waiting to be given another.
I was handed the blue one next and he got the red one. I cracked the cookie open and gasped. My hand immediately went to cover my mouth. Caden reaches over to grab what fell out. As fast as I had cracked open the cookie, Caden was on the ground on one knee. My hands still covered my mouth as I sat there in shock. I knew I was in the verge of tears, happy ones though.
"Maria Lynette Smith, as soon as I found out I was your mate I fell head over heels in love with you. I hope you don't think this is to sudden, but you have become my everything and I know I won't be able to live without you by my side forever. I will protect you as love you with everything I have and I will never let you go. I love you, so Maria Smith, would you do me the honors of becoming my wife?"
I just sat there and started crying.
"Oh my god did I do something wrong? Maria please talk to me!" He had this adorable look of panic on his face.
"No no you didn't I'm crying out of happiness! Of course I'll marry you Caden, you're the best thing that's ever happened to me, I love you!"
"You have no idea how much that means to me." He came over and kissed me while slipping the ring on my finger. This moment was by far the best out of them.
