Chapter Three 

Maria POV

When I woke up I started feeling a pain coursing all through my body.

I was confused as to why this was happening! I ran down stairs with my body aching all over so I couldn't run very well. I reached there and explained to my mom what was wrong. She stated that I was in the early stages of the shift and it was going to last until 11:37 am because that is the time I was born. We apparently shift at the exact time we were born at.

Ugh, I thought to myself, it's only 9:28 so I still have like another 2 hours of this! God, I feel like this will never end.

"Hey ma, when I shift who all will be there?"

"Well sweetie it will be me and your dad, your sister, the alpha, and his son."

"Why does Caden have be there when I shift?"

"Well, as our future alpha of our pack he needs to learn how to handle it and what to do. Therefore, he has to be there. Get it?" She responded politely.

"Yeah I get it, I guess. I am going to go take a cold shower."

"Okay Hun, hurry back because we need to meet the alpha at the pack house at 11, so be ready!"

"Okay mom! I'll be ready."

With that being said, I headed upstairs to my bathroom. I took a shower that was like 45 minutes long. I had enough time to get dressed, straighten my hair, and put on some light makeup.

I found this adorable tank that was white lace and I got out a pair of denim Miss Me jeans. I stare at my outfit in the mirror before straightening my hair. It took about 20 minutes to finish it, but it was so cute when I was done. Lastly I applied some mascara, sparkly eyeliner, and white eye shadow. I had to say, I looked pretty hot.

I went down stair my muscles and bones still aching. Hey, at least I only had another 45 minute left of this!

"Maria, are your ready to go?" My dad said.

"As ready as I'll ever be. Let's get this over with."

It didn't take long to pull up to the giant mansion where a lot of our pack lived. It had to have at least 100 rooms in it. My family wanted to be more independent than that, so we have out own house. We pulled up, parked, and headed inside to meet with the alpha.

"Well hello there! Right on time, as usual. Come in and follow me to my office." Our alpha, Alpha Peterson greeted us.

"It is always a pleasure to see you Alpha." My parents said in response.

"Likewise. Oh Caden you know Maria right? Well of course you do! You're in the same pack and go to the same school. My bad."

"Yeah Dad, I know her." He responded coldly, hardly looking at me.

"Well okay then lets go"

We finally reached his office. He opened the door slightly and walked through.

"Have a seat if you would like. Today is a big day for you Maria. You will finally get to shift and find your mate." Alpha Peterson said facing me.

"I know I'm very excited."

"Good good, so I see we have about 10 minutes until you shift so let's go outside so you have enough room for you and your wolf."

We walked back through the house and to the back patio door. It was slid open and all of us headed outside. We walked about a half a mile to a clearing in the forest.

"You will shift here. Now go behind the tree and change because you probably don't want to shred your clothes do you? Here change into these they are old clothes so no one cares if they get ruined."

And with that I headed to behind the tree and changed into the sweats and old t-shirt I was given. I headed back out when I felt the sharpest pain I have ever experienced. I immediately dropped to my knees and hunched over grasping my stomach. It felt like I had been stabbed.

I screamed in agony. The pain didn't seem like it was going away for a while.

Next thing there were people standing next to me trying to help me. I felt bones start to crack all over. It was the worst and most excruciating pain I've ever experienced.

"It's almost over hang in there." Alpha Peterson said calmly.

I let out one more blood curdling scream.

There was one more crackle and a pop before I was standing on all fours. I looked down to see fur and paws. My fur was black just like my hair with a little bit of brown in it.

Mate. Go to mate now. an unknown voice said in my head.

Oh, you must be my wolf right?

Yeah nice to finally talk to you my name is Lila. Now go to our mate.

I smelled the most intoxicating smell ever and all I wanted to do was wrap myself up in it.

"Maria I want you to shift back quickly. Just imagine yourself the way you were before you shifted." Alpha Peterson said.

I did that and I noticed I had no clothes on!

I was handed a shirt and I quickly put it on.

Mate! My wolf screamed at me again.

Then I heard a fierce growl come from behind me and strong arms wrap around my waist.

I glanced over my shoulder and I saw Caden hovering over me. I heard a whisper in my ear saying, "Mine."

I leaned back, relaxed at his touch, and repeated, "Yours."

"Ah! My little girl already found her mate!! And so soon! Oh my!" My mother practically screeched in my dad's ear.

"Jeez calm down Heather."

"I will not Travis! This is too exciting!"

"Heather why don't you and Travis go inside and tell your Luna about the news!"

And with that my parents headed inside with Alpha Peterson following them.

"Hey wanna go inside the house and spend some time together?" That sexy voice of my mate asked me.

"Sure lets go" I said following him into the house with a smile the size of Jupiter on my face.

This is by far the best day of my life so far. I shifted and met my wolf. I know who my mate is not. He accepts me, and last but not least, he's the next alpha. That just happens to be a bonus.
