After the mission was successful, we all went back to our new base. Thanks to Laswell it was a base that was off the books which means Graves and Shepard couldn't find us here. Price was still thinking on what to do with him, and so was the rest. The new base had it's own headquarters where everybody got assigned to their own room.
After the day we had, most of us were pretty tired and went straight to bed to get some well deserved sleep. I was finally able to get that much needed shower, Price had provided some clothes but until Laswell could get me some new ones, I was stuck wearing man clothes that were to big on me. Not that I minded, it was comfi.
I turned off the shower after the thorough scrubbing I did and got dressed before I got under the covers to get some sleep. I was laying in my bed turning around from side to side but I couldn't seem to fall asleep. My mind kept going back to the events from earlier, but mostly about my kiss with Ghost.
Frustrated I let out a sigh and get out of bed. I had was wearing some boxers and a t-shirt that came till my knees. Everybody is probably asleep so I didn't bother changing before I made my way to the common area and into the kitchen. I hoped that some tea might make me sleepy. While waiting for the water to boil, I spaced out again.
"Can't sleep?" Ghost silently whispered in my ear. I didn't even hear him come in.
"Oh my god! You always sneak up on people in the middle of the night? You gave me a heart attack." I said after taking a step away from him, placing my hand on my chest.
"I'm sorry, have a seat. I'll make your tea ... as an apology." He says while chuckling.
I wasn't going to say no if he felt like helping me so I jump up on top of the counter of the kitchen and sat down watching him making my tea. He poured the water into a mug and walked up to the fridge to get some milk.
"Uhm I don't need milk in- ..."
He looks back at me dead serious, shocked at what I was about to say. I let him pour a little milk in the tea before he gave it to me.
"This is how you're suppose to make tea."
"Not where I'm from." I mumble.
"What was that?" He had moved closer towards me, intimidating me with his tall frame. He narrowed his eyes while looking deep into mine. It made me shiver so I stopped talking and just looked at my mug.
"Nothing" My voice hardly above a whisper.
"Good girl, now drink your tea."
My cheeks turned red which I tried to hide by taking a sip of the drink he made for me. My mind liked to play tricks with me by showing me images of us kissing on the rooftops only a few hours ago, like I wasn't worried enough.
If I was being honest, I was afraid that I ruined our friendship by kissing him. We didn't talk about it after it happened, nor once we got back. It's like it never happened, maybe that's how he felt about it. Was it a mistake?
"Is something wrong?" He asked.
"No everything is fine." I forced out a smile before taking another sip of my tea.
"You know I can tell when you're lying to me."
"I'm not-"
"Don't even." He immediately cuts me off when he I was about to deny it.
My gaze landed on the floor, I felt super awkward and uncomfortable but I guess I had to know how he felt about it. Now how will I bring it up without making a complete fool of myself, if that was even possible. I scrabbed my throat and starting talking, my voice so low I was almost whispering. "I'm sorry for earlier, I didn't mean to make things awkward between us."
