After the interrogation of the Russian man, Jhonny walked me back to my room. I was laying in my bed, images of what was my first and hopefully my last interrogation flashed through my mind. Someone just bit off his own tongue to keep a secret, I had to agree with Jhonny, something is definitely up.
It took me hours before I finally was able to fall asleep that night. Ever since Simon and I stopped sleeping in the same bed, I couldn't seem to have a decent night of rest. It's like his presence calmed me down and he made me feel safe whenever he laid down next to me.
He was able to scare away my demons that usually kept me up all night. The nightmares also returned, I should've never took for granted how much Simon gave me some peace of mind.
I woke up by the loud noises just outside my door. I turned my head to look at the time and saw it was already 10 a.m. I jumped out of bed and got ready to join the rest of the team.
Marines were running all around the base, it was chaos yet I couldn't find any of my team members. The conference room was empty and so was the kitchen, I made my way to Price his office.
After knocking on the door, I opened it but found it also empty. I looked all around the base for any of them but they were all gone. Usually they tell me where they're going so there was something odd going on.
I walked over to Johnny's room, it was unlocked so I walked straight inside. We've stayed in each other's room quite a few times to hang out on our free days, so I don't feel to bad for entering when he's not here.
Taking a quick look around the room, my eyes landed on a note that laid on his desk. I picked it up and started reading it.
'Ashley,
We left for our mission early today. Didn't want to wake you after everything that happened yesterday.
Should be back later tonight, don't miss us too much.
Johnny.'I let out a sigh and took the letter with me as I moved to Simon's room. For some reason I needed to feel close to him again, he has been my rock for a while now and I really missed him.
Even if I couldn't tell him that because of the guilt that was eating me up inside, I'd have to explain why I have been so off lately and I couldn't do that without mentioning Johnny.
But I wanted him back in my life and go back to how things were before, even if that meant talking to him about everything. In order to work things out, I needed to know where his mind was at.
I entered his room and went over to his closet to grab myself a sweater. I could've worn one of my own but I want one that smelled like him. I buried my face in the soft material and let my senses take over. Smelling his familiar scent always relaxed ever muscle in my body.
Walking over to his bed, I sat down with a smile on my face. He is everywhere in this room. Memories of our time spend together flashed in front of my eyes, from sleeping together on this bed to the shower where we'd make love, to the desk on which we sometimes even worked at together.
Those memories of our time together made me feel warm inside, like a teenage girl that felt butterflies in her stomach for the very first time. It was silly, but I loved it at the same time.
My eyes followed my thoughts and moved over the entire room, until they got wind of something shiny near the bedside table. I leaned down to pick it up and have a better look at it.
My heart sank to my stomach when I saw the earring laying in my hand, I only ever wore gold ones which meant that the silver one in my hand belonged to someone else. Someone else left their earring in his room. My mind immediately went to Chloe, who else could it belong to.
