Darryl's POV:
Me, Ant, and Velvet had returned to the Sugar kingdom whilst Nikki and Jack went back to their kingdom. I opened the door to my room to see Zak on the couch in front of the bed. He looked up at me before greeting me.
"Hi, Darryl!" he said with a squeaky voice. "Hi, Zak," I said, closing the door.
I noticed that he had a few bandages on smaller cuts he had but the larger ones were still exposed. His wounds were still open and very bad but some started to heal now that it's been a few days. "How about I treat those," I say, pointing to one of his open wounds.
The wound was on his leg and a large chunk of flesh was ripped out of his leg, exposing some bone. I frowned at his wounds, remembering his weak smile that he gave me when I found him in the dungeon. He did have a few diamonds still left embedded in his legs and arms. His diamond freckles were also left untouched.
"Will it hurt?" he asked.
I giggled at his response.
Of course it would hurt to treat them but perhaps Ant and Velvet owned numbing spray. "It might . . . , but you need to get those treated, Geppy," I say, crossing my arms. His face flushed a light blue to the nickname. I gasped in an awe.
"You blush blue!?" I exclaimed. "Um, . . . I do?" he asked. "You didn't know?!" "No . . . , "he replied in a more quiet tone. "Sorry, have I upset you?" I asked. He looked down at the ground before returning his attention to me. "No, sorry if I made you think that," he responded.
"No, no, it's fine. Let's just get those wounds treated . . . They look pretty bad. That is, if you will let me." He nodded, accepting my request to treat his wounds. I smiled before leaving the room.
I looked around the large castle, looking for Velvet or Ant.
Eventually, I found Ant in the library. He looked up at me before saying, "Oh hello, Darryl. Do you need anything?" "Yes, actually. I was wondering where you keep the first-aid supplies. I would like to treat Zak's wounds," I replied.
"Oh, there is a small closet by the throne room and the first-aid supplies are in there," Ant replied. "Alright, thank you," I say with a bow before leaving the room and heading towards the throne room. Once I got to the throne room, I noticed the small closet that Ant was talking about.
I opened the door to the small closet that then revealed a series of items.
A few towels, four med-kits, 3 boxes of bandages, different boxes and bottles of medications, rubbing alcohol, gauzes, heating pads, numbing spray and two stitches kits. I grabbed a towel, a bottle of rubbing alcohol, numbing spray, a stitches kit, gauze, and lastly, cotton bandage wraps.
I closed the door to the closet with my elbow since my hands were occupied. I managed to carry the lot back to my room. As soon as Zak saw it he freaked out.
I wouldn't blame him though.
I put the supplies on a skinny, small table that rested by the couch Zak sat on. I turned back to look at Zak, his eyes still giving away the fact that he was terrified.
"Don't worry, I found numbing spray," I said, reassuring him that it wouldn't hurt that bad to treat his wounds.
"Phew! I thought I was about to get obliterated!" Zak exclaimed.
I giggled, grabbing the numbing spray and pulling off the cap. "Ready? It may be cold," I say. He nodded.
I started to spray Zak's leg with the numbing spray three times.
He winced at the cold and stingy spray. I would have to do this to his other wounds later. I then started to tap on the surrounding areas around his wound to make sure that it was starting to numb the area.
I could tell it was working when Zak didn't wince or flinch. I looked back up at Zak for approval to continue with the process. Zak turned his gaze from his leg to me, nodding. I looked back down at his wound and grabbed a towel from the small, dinky table.
I lifted Zak's leg up gently before placing the towel underneath it. I then took a gauze pad and a bottle of rubbing alcohol from the table, opening the cap of the rubbing alcohol. I poured some of the rubbing alcohol onto the gauze pad, the substance seeking through the fluffy gauze. I put the rubbing alcohol back on the table before gently starting to dab Zak's leg with the gauze.
The gauze started to soak up the blood that lingered throughout his wound. I dabbed the area a bit more before moving the gauze down to the end of his wound, letting the gauze soak the liquid up. Eventually, the blood that ran from his wound stopped. I put the blood covered gauze on the table, grabbing the stitching-kit.
I opened the kit, grabbing a small, tiny needle and a roll of black thread.
I looked up at Zak who seemed nervous but at the same time, curious. I returned my attention to the stitch kit, taking a piece of the thread and latching it onto the needle. I brought the needle close to Zak's skin, inspecting where I'd stitch first.
I eventually picked out a spot at the top of his wound, slowly starting to push the needle into his skin. As the needle seeped into his skin, I brought the needle up and out of his skin, the thread tying into his skin.
I repeated the process until his wound was fully stitched. I also repeated to numb, clean, and stitch his other wounds. Eventually, Zak's wounds were all clean and stitched up.
"Thank you!" Zak squeaked. "You're welcome," I say, scooping up the leftover supplies and leaving the room. I returned the supplies to the closet before heading back to my room. Once I got back to my room, I took the bloody gauzes and dumped them in the trash.
I went over to Zak and patted his head before gently pushing him down onto the couch, making him lay down on his back. "Go ahead and get some rest," I said, turning off the lamp, making the room go pitch black.
I hopped into bed, the fluffy blanket consuming my body. Before I dozed off I heard Zak speak. "Goodnight."
"Goodnight, Skeppy," I replied. I heard Zak yawn before the room went silent.
