Jschlatts POV:

With that, she kicked me in the stomach with her heel, kicking my back to the stone wall behind me. I fell to the ground, startled. I looked back up to meet her gaze. Her eyes weren't a glimmering hazel anymore . . .

Instead, they looked rather . . . red. "Who are you?" I yelled, tensing up. She chuckled while the man behind her only smiled. "Do you not recognize us, Johnathan?" she spoke, her peers dimming.

I shuttered at my name being said. No one had called me by my real name for . . . a long time now. Why now?

I gulped.

"How could you not remember your friends from long ago? The ones you poisoned. You did all of this, just to take our place?" the man said, crouching before me. His voice was low-pitched. That was when it hit me.

"Claret, Reed!?" I exclaimed. Claret smiled and so did Reed. "Took you long enough," Reed muttered. "H—how?! How are you even alive!?" "Well, let's just say a friend helped us . . . A friend that knows magic," Claret said.

"Mrs. Windward!?"

"She indeed. Sadly, her magic is not strong enough to bring us back permanently. But, we have just enough time on earth to teach you a lesson before we must return to the after life," Claret spoke.

Shit.

I heard a small, sharp cling that came from behind Claret.

I looked over to see what had made the sound, but she prevented me from that. She took two of her fingers and put them on my chin, forcing me to face her and Reed's gaze.

"Now . . . karma has come your way. We'll do the exact same thing you did to us, but worse," Claret said, turning my chin to face the place I wanted to look at originally.

There in her right hand was a sharp, double headed ax.

Darryls POV:

Tonight was the night of the party. I had walked into the ballroom to inspect the area. I wanted to make sure everything was perfect.

Red and blue streamers ran along the walls, tables were against the walls full of food and sweet treats. The middle of the room was left empty. That was the dance floor. I feel that Nikki and Jack would enjoy it as I heard they like dancing together. Large windows were on the wall, sunlight pouring in from them.

I heard a knock on the door to the ballroom. "Come in," I spoke in a louder voice than usual to ensure the person behind the door heard me. I heard the doors open and footsteps enter the room.

"Queen Nikki, King Jack, and some others are here," I heard Lucas speak, my back to him still. I turned around. "Perfect, may you bring them inside?" I ask. Lucas nodded before leaving, the doors closing behind him. I sighed.

"Right this way," I heard Lucas say from across the palace.

A group of footsteps heading towards me was heard. The clink of heels and boots on the marble floor echoed throughout the tall castle.

I stood in front of the door, quickly fixing the red bow that was on my black suit.

Then entered Nikki, Jack, Ant, Velvet, and Zak.

Nikki wore a white cocktail dress with silky white gloves that went up to her elbow. She also had on glamorous white heels that contrasted with an expensive pearl necklace that she wore. Her brown hair cascaded down her back while her blonde bangs were curled and dangled to the side of her head. Nikki had blush pampered on her cheeks with sleek eyeliner neatly done on her face.

Jack wore a black suit with a striking red tie.

He had a wide smile portrayed on his face. Jack had short, dark brown hair with low, well cleaned, black shoes.

Velvet wore a black suit with a red tie like Jack with similar shoes.

His dark red hair was slicked to the side.

Ant wore a tan long sleeve, pull over shirt with a golden colored bow and dark brown pants. He also wore black boots. His fluffy, brown hair was neatly combed and the sun that poured from the large windows shone on his light skin.

Lastly, Zak.

He wore a light blue pullover shirt like Ant, but he instead had a dark blue bow with dark gray pants. His fuzzy, raven colored hair with a tint of blue at the tips was combed out. His shiny, diamond freckles clashed with his limestone colored skin. He wore small, diamond earrings on his pointy ears. His tail swung behind him in excitement.

"Darryl!" Zak exclaimed, running up to me and hugging me. "Hi, Zak!" I giggled, nuzzling my head into his shoulder.

I looked up to see Velvet whisper something to Ant, while looking at us, that made Ant giggle. Wonder what it was.

As we separated from each other's embrace, I put my hands on his shoulders. "You look great, Zak."

"I know right!" he said with a cheeky grin. I playfully rolled my eyes at him. The rest of the time, we all had a good time.

Ant, Velvet, and Zak seemed to enjoy the food while Jack twirled Nikki around on the dance floor. Later, I saw Zak leave to the bathroom.

This was my time. I had gathered them all up before telling them what I had wanted to tell them for some time now . . .

"I—I think I like Zak more than just a 'best friend' . . ."
