Zak's POV:

"This isn't what it looks like . . . ," Lucas said, stepping back down the stairs. He walked all the way back down next to me. I leaned away from him. I didn't want to be near him . . .

The maid still looked horrified as she stood before the broken shards of the glass. She trembled in fear, her legs shaking. Minx and Sapnap quickly snapped out of the awe, pulling their sharp, steel swords out from their belt pocket that was used to hold their heavy swords. The two of them held their swords up, pointing it at Lucas.

Lucas took that as a threat, and it was.

Minx and Sapnap moved down a step of the stairs. "Don't move! I'll kill him if you take one more step!" Lucas shouted, putting the sword he held to my throat.

I leaned back a tad, staring down at the blade. Minx and Sapnap stopped in their tracks.

If they even moved a foot, I'd die. A devious smile crept up on Lucas's face. "Can't do anything, now can you? You move, he dies."

All of the sudden, someone came up from behind Minx with a gun.

It was one of the head guards. Head guards were the top ranking of all guards and were the only ones with guns at their sides. The guard shot Lucas without warning, the bullet flying through Lucas's skull. Blood splattered everywhere. Lucas dropped the sword onto my lap as he fell to the ground with a thud. I gulped, looking down beside me to see Lucas's body.

Blood trickled down from the gunshot wound that laid in the middle of his forehead. His eyes were already faded. Lucas lay lifeless on the floor of the dungeon. I looked back up at the group of people that stood up the stairs at the dungeon entrance.

"Zak!" Darryl shrieked, pushing himself through the mob of people in front of him. He rushed down the stairs, quickly hugging me. "Are you alright?" he asked, looking down at the wound on my arm. I nodded. "Let me take that piece of tape off your mouth . . . ," Darryl said, slowly pulling the tape off.

"Darryl!" I cried out with joy, relieved that I was finally safe.

He quickly began to untie the rope from around my body, tossing it to the side.

I jumped up, hugging Darryl, burying my head into his chest. "I thought I'd never see you again!" I exclaimed. Darryl patted my back, trying to calm me down.

"Come on, let's get you cleaned up . . ."
