Ruby sat on the roof of the hotel on one of the chairs, using her butterfly knife to cut her cast off.
Her fingers traced JJ's name and the heart next to it, a small smile gracing her lips before she carved it out, stuffing it in her pocket to make it seem like he was with her.
She slipped on another sock along with her other combat boot before walking over and sitting next to John B and Sarah, her eyes widening once she realized he had a phone.
" what are you doing?" She asked, peering over his shoulder, blinking in surprise after he snapped a picture of the three of them, " sending a message from beyond the grave" He said casually.
She laid on her stomach, stretching out on one of the hammocks but practically jumping for the phone once she saw JJ's number come across.
Her hands were shaking as she typed back to him, wanting to jump through the phone and kiss him until neither of them could breathe.
She took a few deep breaths, he knew she was alive, and he still wanted her- she broke out into a cheshire grin as he texted saying he loved her, she didn't hesitate to text it back.
She watched as John B took the phone back, asking if they could work on clearing their names so they could finally come home, they all sighed in relief once they promised to do so.
Sarah and John B went back to their own conversation but Ruby tuned them out, a cheerful laugh escaping her lips at how ironic all of this was.
She thought they would never see each other again, she thought that night was the end of them but it wasn't, he was there in Kildare waiting for her to come home to him- it was only then did she realize she didn't actually need to go back to Kildare, wherever JJ was is her home.
Her heart finally slowed down and she could breathe easier, he still loved her, she had something worth fighting for.
She laid back down on the chair, closing her eyes as a soft smile graced her lips.
JJ Maybank was still in love with her.
