Emily
I wake up with a big headache. It was a long time since I had one of those and I made a mental node to stop drinking this much...except I didn't remember drinking last night. I opened my eyes and instantly regret it. After a few times blinking, trying to focus, I found that I wasn't at Dax's home, or in my bakery...or any known place that I could think of. The room was dark with only one small bulb in the center of the celling. I was laying on a mattress on the floor of the room, in the farthest corner from the door. There was a big wardrobe on the right of me and a small window on the left. The glass was so dirty that it was impossible to see through it. There were muffled voices on the other side of the door. It took me a few moments to remember what happened with me and how did I end here. Then all of a sudden, I remembered the dark figure at the door of my bakery, the male voice and then the hands grabbing me from behind. I tried to look around, tried to find some clues where I was, who was these people, but there was nothing in the room. My head was killing me and all I could think was Will Dax know that I'm missing and will he'll be able to find me?
I was trying with everything in me to open the window, when I sensed that something changed. I stopped my trying and focus on the sounds around me, trying to pin point what was the difference. Just when I realized that there were no more voices in the hall, the door on my room burst open.
"Looks who finally woke up. I was starting to worried that we killed you."
"Who are you?" The man staying at the door was looking mean. He was tall, with dark menacing eyes, crocked nose and chipped lips. His bald head was shining under the lamp in the hall while his big torso was taking up the whole door. He was dressed in black clothes and big boots were finishing his dark image.
"Doesn't matter who I am." He took a step in the room and closed the door behind himself.
"Then why am I here?"
"Because someone made a big mistake."
"Mistake? Are you telling me that me being here is just someone's fuck-up? If I'm not supposed to be here, then why don't you just let me leave?"
"Oh, is wasn't someone from my team that messed up, don't worry." This dude was just getting on my nerves with all this riddles.
"What's that supposed to mean? What do you want?"
"That's simple. Payback."
"Payback?"
"Yup."
"For what?"
"For messing up things that shouldn't be touched."
"Do you know that nothing you say makes any sense?"
"It'll make sense, don't worry. You just need to wait."
"For what?"
"My boss." This didn't sound very promising. I was in an unknow place, with unknown people, waiting for some mythical boss to come and make a decision involving me.
"And when this boss of yours will be here?"
"Soon."
"Thanks. That was helpful." The sarcasm was dripping from all my words.
"You can act like a bitch all you want, it doesn't matter. Soon all will end either way."
"What do you mean end? What will end?" This sounded very treating and I didn't like the spark in his eyes, nor the smirk on his face when he said the next word.
"You."
"WHAT!?!" This time he didn't answer my question. Just turned around and walked through the door. The sound of the turning key in the lock was like a thunder in the small room.
Nothing he said made sense. Except the fact that I was probably going to die. Who were these people? Who they thought I was and who made a mistake that was so big that my life was a fair pay?
The hours were moving slowly. The sun, that was barely visible through the dirty windows, has set a long time ago, which meant that I was missing for a whole day already. At this moment Dax should know that I was missing, but will he be able to find me? Are there any clues? I had no idea if it was possible. So, after the long hours staying alone in this small room, I came to the conclusion that I need to save myself, there was no point in waiting and hoping that someone or something was going to save me. My whole life I was taking care of myself, doing everything alone and this situation shouldn't be different. Dax was a great guy that I was falling in love with, but that doesn't mean that I needed to just sit and wait for him all the time. He shouldn't be expected to save me all the time. I should be able to do it myself just fine.
With a new determination, I started to think of all kind of scenarios that will end up with me getting away from this place. There weren't much options. I didn't have anything in this room that I could use as a weapon. The wardrobe didn't have any shelves, it was an empty box that was way too big for me to try to break. The only option I had was to attack my abductors with bare hands and hope that it will be enough. And hope that I won't have to fight a lot of men. Because I was sure I wouldn't make it in that case.
At some point during the night, the door opened and a different man from before stood there.
"C'mon. Let's go."
"Where?"
"No need to know. Just move."
"I want to know what's happening."
"MOVE!" The booming of his voice made me jump and follow his instructions. This man was bigger and meaner than the previous one and I knew that I had no chance if I tried to attack him. I needed to wait for the perfect time and hope that it will come sooner rather than later. And if I was lucky, this mountain of a man wouldn't be near me when I try.
We were moving though long dark halls, taking turn after turn, until I wasn't sure where I was and where was the room, I was kept in in the first place. Finally, we ended up in a dark and dusty garage that had an old van parked in it.
"Your hands!"
"Um, what?"
"Give me your hands!" I followed the instructions and the big man bound them together with a rope. Tightly. I knew I won't able to move them even if I tried. And to made the thing even more secure, he put a duct tape over the rope, crushing all of my hopes of trying to escape at the moment.
"Get in." He opened the back door of the van and shove me inside, not waiting for me to make the move. When I managed to sit up, he put another rope though my bound hands and tied it to a loop that was installed on the floor. When he made sure that I wasn't able to move, he closed the back doors of the van and left the garage. Few minutes later, I heard steps coming closer to the van, the front doors opened and the van shook while someone got inside. Then the engine started and we took off. They were moving me to a new place. Why? No one told me. Not that I expected it, but...I thought that I was waiting for their boss to come and decide my destiny. This moving thing – I didn't like it. Either my destiny was already decided and I was going to meet my end somewhere else or...something has changed. Whatever it was, I was sure that it wasn't in my favor.
After a while the van stopped and the back doors opened.
"Well, good evening, miss Wilson. I'm so happy that you managed to come. We have so much to discuss."
***We are a step closer to finding out who took Lily and the reason for it. Do you think she has a chance in escaping or that chance flew away the moment they moved her. And who is she meeting at this new place?
