Emily
Two weeks later
The last few months were full with so much stuff going on, that I was hoping that the future will be a lot calmer. I needed a little bit laziness in my life and Dax – oh, I was sure that he'll die for some vacation time right now.
After the raid of the Roth's mansion, the whole SWAT team needed to stay at the Police station for almost 24 hours and give their reports directly to their boss, and then, they had some meetings with different teams and departments and some prosecutors. There were so much people wanting to hear the story first hand, that the team were tired of repeating it all night long. But that raid was quite the big event in the region...and the fact Chris Roth was at the scene where not only I was found after my kidnaping, but also were found a lot of money and even some drugs, it was like a jackpot for the prosecution. They had a lot of evidences for the illegal work that Chris was managing and they wanted to make their cases as fire proof as possible. That was why they were grilling the SWAT team for hours after they saved me. They tried to do it to me, too, but Dax quickly stopped them. He sent me to the hospital for a checkup and make sure no one was to come to my room and ask me questions until he was with me. Which push my interrogation with a day, because of his delay in the Police station. When all we knew was said at least 10 time, we were left alone, at least for some days until the prosecutors made their case against Roth and needed us to be in court to tell our story again, this time in front of a judge and a jury. We also found out that part of Roth's crew was the ones who broke in and trashed my apartment. It was a warning about my neighbors being caught with drugs. I wasn't sure how I felt about it, but at least I knew that I didn't have some unknown people trying to harm me.
Chris Roth and his team were not the only ones that were going to the jail. Rebecca was also arrested after Dax found out that she was the reason for the first vandalism of my bakery. Honestly, I'm kind of sad that I didn't think of her when I was making a list of suspects, but I wasn't surprised that she did it. I wasn't sure that her logic for doing it was any good and the idea that she could have Dax back was ridiculous, but, hey, to each their own, I guess. I was happy that it took a few days for her friend to get the money for her bail, so Rebecca had a few nights in the arrest. Hopefully after that fun experience she'll think twice before making something stupid.
As for Caitie, she had a long conversation with Dax where they talked about her past and her future. It was a hard one to both of them, but at least they managed to come up with a plan that was approved not only by both of them, but also their parents. Caitie found a small place in a nearby town, dealing with drug addicts, that she liked to go to. So, after a talk with the director of the program and some research of his own, Dax finally let his sister deal with her demons on her own terms. He let her made her choices and just supported her decisions. Only time will tell if this will work like they hope it will.
Dax
Two days after the arrest of Chris Roth, my team and I were back on the road, writing tickets and stopping stupid people of doing dumb shit. In the following days I dealt with Rebecca and then with Caitie. All of these problems and finding different solutions were leaving me with little to no energy at the end of the day. Luckily, I had my sweet Cupcake waiting for me every time I got home and she took care of me and Ace when I couldn't do it on my own. She made sure that we were fed and cleaned, my uniforms ready for me for my next shift. And I was so thankful for her, I couldn't express it. For the most part of my life I was the one caring for the people around me. And now when Lily was doing it for me, without hidden agendas, just because she knew I was tired and couldn't made it myself...she was golden. Day after day I wondered if it was too soon to propose to her, to make sure she would be bound to me for the rest of our lives, so that I would have time to thank her for her care.
