Emily

This was the first time in ages when I woke up surrounded by warmth. Don't know why, but my whole life, I was waking up from feeling cold, no matter how many blankets I used. But not this time. This time, I was in this warm pocket, and I didn't want to move. I was feeling way too good. There was this...comforting weight on my hip and a solid wall in front of me that was radiating the warmth around me...and this soothing sound of deep breathing and a heartbeat. What? A heartbeat?

"Dax! Where the hell are you! I know you are in the house, don't hide from me!" – there was someone shouting in the house, I heard steps getting louder and louder and I opened my eyes. And I saw a chest, man's chest, man's tattooed chest, that was moving with every breath that filled his lungs. I moved my head a little bit and saw the head that was attached to the chest. Dax. He looked so calm while sleeping. Why was he here? "Dax, where the hell..." The door to the room burst open, and a young girl walked in like she owned the place. From the loud noise, Dax jumped from the bed, trying to understand what was happening. "Oh! Here you are!" Who was she, and why was she freely walking in his house?

"What the hell, Caitlin? Why can't you be like the normal people. Knock on the door, ring the bell. Call. You know? Not bursting in."

"But what will be the fun in that?" Okay, Dax, at least knew the girl, but that doesn't help me much of knowing what was happening. She did that other times, too. But why? I moved a little bit in the bed, feeling uncomfortable of the way she caught us. They both saw my movement.

"Shit! Sorry about that, Cupcake. She is a little bit of a crazy nut." Dax looked at me apologizingly. "C'mon, Caitie, get out of here. You've made enough damage for now." He walked towards her, grabbed her by the elbow, and tried to get her out of the room while she was still looking questioning at me.

"Cupcake? You called her Cupcake?" They were out of the room, door closed, but I was still managing the hear their voices. "Since when do you use nicknames?"

"Since I want. Now, go and wait for me in the kitchen, I need to put some clothes on. And start the coffee machine!"

"It's not like I haven't seen you like that, like, million times. And from what I saw, this Cupcake of yours isn't unfamiliar with your body too, so there is no need to play it moderate."

"God help me, Caitie. Just do what I told you to do, please. Don't act like this."

"Goosh, okay, okay. I was just saying it how it is. No need to play shy with us. I'm sure The Cupcake will be happy staring at your abs."

"Caitie..." Dax's voice sounded irritated.

"Okay, okay. I'm going." Then I heard one pair of steps walking down the stairs and the other going to the other room on the floor. What the hell was that? I looked at Ace, who was just lying in my feet, not bothered at all by what was happening around him.

"Do you know her?" He looked at me with questionable eyes. "Should I get down, or just... like...stay here and wait until she leaves, if she leaves. Will she stay here all day? If so, it'll be hard to stay here and hide, right?" I didn't expect Ace to answer me, but...what was I supposed to do? I have no idea who she was, and the only clothes I had were Dax's, mine were waiting to be washed. How was I supposed to walk down in his shirt, acting all cool and stuff? Fuck! "What to do, Ace?"

"Just come down when you are ready." I jumped from the unexpected answer that I got. From outside of the room. I guess Dax heard me talking to his dog. Great. Now, I added crazy to the list of my amazingness. I heard his steps going down the stairs and thought for a while what exactly should I do. "Fuck! Okay, we are doing it, Ace, let's see who she is and why she came into the room like that. What can possibly go wrong, right?" I put a pair of Dax's shorts, because for sure I wasn't going in there just with a T-shirt. Looked myself at the mirror and tried to get my hair in order, but it was a mission impossible, so I just put it in a messy bun on top of my head. "Well, I can't get any better given the circumstances. Let's get down, Ace. I need coffee to survive this day."
