Chapter 8

As Sonia walked up on the two, she smiled and greeted them before sitting down right in front of them.

"Heya guys!" Sonia cheered.

"Hey Sonia." Y/N smiled. "What are you doing here?"

"Well, my Gran gave me a proper earful in her own way... "Those young trainers are setting out on a journey, but what are you doing with your life?" she sweat dropped.

"That's a little harsh..." Leon added, as Sonia changed her expression back to a happy one.

"Ah, nothing to worry yourselves over." she giggled. "Where are the other two boys?"

"I don't know..." Y/N told her. "I'm sure if they knew you were here they'd be back soon." she laughed to herself, as the two looked at her.

"What do you mean?" Sonia asked.

Y/N's eyes grew wide when she realized she said that out loud, and quickly tried to change the subject. "Oh uh, nothing!" she awkwardly chuckled. "Sonia, I caught my first Pokémon, wanna see?"

"Ooh, of course!" Sonia exclaimed as she stood up in front of Y/N and Leon.

Then, Y/N called over her partners who were playing by the lake, and Scorbunny came up to them followed by Eevee. Sonia immediately had stars in her eyes and started gushing over the small brown Pokémon.

"Oh she is just the absolute cutest!" Sonia cooed, while picking her up. "Great job, Y/N!"

"Thanks, Sonia." she smiled.

"So what are the plans for today? I have some areas around here I'd like to research, what about you two?"

Y/N and Leon looked at each other and shrugged. She didn't know how much longer they were going to stay there, or if Leon even wanted to hang out with her.

"I'm not too sure yet..." Y/N sweat dropped. "Maybe some training?"

"We can go find wild pokémon for you to train with til Hop and Victor get back?" Leon suggested.

"Sure, that works." she smiled.

"Okay, well are you guys just going to be here? I can come meet up with you later?"

"Probably around this area." Leon told Sonia.

"Sounds good!" she smiled, before walking off.

As the next few hours went by, Y/N worked on training her team of two against a few wild Pokémon. Leon mainly let her figure things out on her own, but gave her pointers here and there. Even though he could tell she was a natural, he wanted to help when he could.

Despite battling against multiple wild Pokémon, Y/N had yet to find another she wanted to add to her team. As it was getting later in the day, the two went back to their original camp site and reset up Y/N's tent while waiting for the others to come back.

She decided that she would start working on dinner while Leon called Hop to see where they were. As Scorbunny and Eevee rested inside the tent, Charizard helped Y/N gather berries to add to her cooking pot.

Leon watched her bond with his partner, and started to feel his feelings for her grow. As he pulled his phone out to call Hop, he started to feel guilty and decided to push his feelings for her aside.

"Hello?" Hop answered on the other line.

"Hey Hop! Where are you guys?" Leon asked.

"We're actually over by North Lake Miloch, where are you two?" Hop asked.

"I think we're near the Dappled Grove? We assumed you would head back this way..."

"Well, we met up with Sonia and got carried away. Now that it's getting late she's making us dinner, so I guess we'll meet up tomorrow?"
