As Y/N stood up, she headed towards the doorway that opened to the hallway leading out onto the stadium. She wished she wasn't the last of her friends to go, but that didn't matter now.

Walking through the dark hallway towards the bright light emerging from the stadium field was making her more nervous than expected. Despite how she felt, she took a deep breath, wiped her sweaty palms against her white shorts, and walked onto the field.

Once she came into view, the stadium cheered for her which surprisingly helped calm her nerves. As she walked towards the middle of the stadium, Milo the gym leader appeared from the opposite tunnel, and made his way onto the field as well.

When they both reached the center, they stopped and turned towards each other before Milo spoke up first.

"Hello, Y/N. It's good to see you again." he smiled. "My Gym's the first one people face, so we get a lot of challengers. I'm glad you were able to get registered for today, I can't wait to see how our battle turns out!"

Y/N nodded, and turned around as she walked towards the pitch while Milo did the same. As she prepared for the battle, her eyes were drawn up the side of the stadium to one of the suites, where she locked eyes with Leon who was looking down at her with a big smile on his face. He gave her a quick wave and a thumbs up, which turned her cheeks a blush of pink.

As she turned her focus back to Milo and the field in front of her, they both grabbed their first pokéball and the battle begun.

As Milo sent out his first pokémon, Gossifleur, Y/N countered and decided to use Gible. She decided to save Scorbunny first, so he had all his energy and would be able to dynamax flawlessly. Although they had not had a chance to practice it, they watched the previous battles beforehand and had a pretty good idea of what was expected.

Milo called out for his partner to send out an attack, and it quickly hit Gible head on. He stumbled back a bit, but recovered quickly and was ready to fight.

"Gible, use bite!" Y/N commanded.

As her partner complied, he ran towards his opponent and sent a quick attack to it causing it to land directly on Milo's partner, which forced it to fall back as well.

The crowd cheered, which gave Y/N the confidence she needed to continue on with the battle without a doubt in her mind. This was exactly where she was meant to be, and she knew already she could pull off a win.

After a few more hits here and there, Milo's partner fainted, and it was now Y/N in the lead. She could tell her Gible was tired, so she called him back and sent out her partner Scorbunny. As he came out of his ball, a cheer erupted from his mouth and confidence emerged from his little body.

"Woohoo! We're not going to be done in that easy! We're tough as weeds!" Milo cheered, as he grabbed another pokéball from his waist and sent out Eldegoss.

Before she could call out a move, Y/N paused as Milo still held his pokeball in his hand.

"Come on, then! It's Dynamax time! You're about to be uprooted!" he exclaimed, while returning his partner and sending it back out as Y/N and Scorbunny watched it grow in size as the clouds above them turned a dark shade of red and purple.

"Holy..." she gasped. Seeing Dynamax on tv was one thing, but having it smack dab in front of her was another.

Scorbunny turned around towards her and held his fist up, not looking scared for one second.

"You think we can dynamax too?" she laughed, looking down at her wristband that was lit up as her partner jumped from excitement.

"Alright... Here goes nothin'."
