Chapter 32

Victoria's POV

"Thank the goddess, it's finally over!" Tori said while stretched her arms in the air.

"The exam weren't that bad" Lily said shaking her head lightly at Tori's exaggeration. "Speak for yourself miss teacher's pet. It was english, my least favorite topic. All the other exams like math or history I could deal with, and even like, but english is all about analyzing the text and interpretation"

"It's was not that bad" Lily said with a smile but Tori frowned.

"Yes it is! 'There is no right or wrong answer' the teacher says, but if you don't interpret it like she likes you don't get the grade you want. I hate it! Suddenly I have to deal with a teacher's point of view, as well as analyzing the text, and remember the history for the time period it was written in" I complained.

Chase decided it was the perfect time to laugh out loud, and I mean loudly. His laughter roared through the hallway.

"What are you laughing at?" I said giving him a glare.  The exam was horrible! How could he laugh!

"Sorry" Chase said between laughter so it came out more like "S-haha-sor-hahha-ry"

Lily decided to speak up for her mate's behalf since he obviously couldn't compose himself.

"I think what Chase means is this is the first time we have seen you this out of sorts. You have been so strong throughout everything and the dramatic change from one badass alpha to the girl whining over a little exam was just a bit surprising"

I made a pout "I wasn't whining" I said in defiance, even though we all knew I had been.

Chase finally found his voice and smirked "Did too! Here I have been wondering what it would take to knock you down and all it took was an english exam? What vampires and werewolves to boring for you?"

"Hey give me werewolves and vampires  any day, fighting is easy, knowing what the teacher is looking for that is another matter entirely"

They both chuckled and I joined in. Yes the big badass alpha had been reduced to a whiny brat by an exam.

"By the way I know you weren't here for the last school dance, but there will be a graduation party on friday, you have to come!" Lily said.

"I don't know" It was wednesday and me and Becca had been discussing when best to leave. Cole had convinced me to stay for the exam, it would be a waist to run out on it when it was only a week left after all. And although I wanted to move on, I too had to admit it would be good to get it over with. Besides who would wanna be the alpha who had to stay back a year? No thank you.

So I had stayed. I was glad I did, though I wouldn't admit it out loud I didn't want to leave Michael. The thought of not seeing him made my heart cry out. Stupid mating bond.

I still hadn't figured out how I was going to deal with that, but I needed to think of something.

"You have to stay!" Lily argued, bringing my back from my thoughts.

"I have a lot of things I need to do, and besides I have done what I came here to do"

"I get that, but you're gonna leave us and who knows when we'll see you again. We have to have a proper goodbye and this graduation party is it. Becca can come to, outsiders are allowed, come on it will be the last time we get to hang out before you leave, at least leave with a bang"

"Come in Tori the whole pack will miss you and the girls would love to get a proper goodbye"

"Fine" i said giving in. I had planned to be packing the moment I came back to the pack house and out the doors by the time night came but I could wait a day. I could go over some business with Mason that I had planned to wait with for later but might as well do it now and Becca would love to get a girl moment where our lives didn't suck for a day. In fact now that I thought about it we both needed it.

"Becca I know you don't like doing things half-way, but seriously!"

"What, Tori you can't be complaining already" Becca chuckled.

"We had been at the mall since 10 am when the doors opened and it's-" I paused to check my phone. "-currently 6 pm!"

"Seriously, you train for how long each day? Martial art, wolf form, run around the lake, training the girls and alpha meeting with Mason. That was your schedule, that takes way more energy than this. You can't complain"

"Oh yes I can, we have been here for 8 hours, shopping!"

"Yeah yeah, I get it, just one last stop and were done" she said smiling and I sighed but smiled. It was good to see her like this. Becca has always been more rock than pop, black than pink, edgy than sweet. But she was the best friend Tori could have asked for and it made her happy to see a moment of peace on her best friends face. Just a moment when they could enjoy themselves and not think about how the world was crashing down around them.

"Fine, were to this time?"

They had been to every dress shop Becca could find, found their perfect dress and shoes to match, they had bought makeup just for the occasion, and even done their nails.

"Hairdressers of course" Becca smirked.

"Of course" victoria smiled and followed her best friend into the shop.

"Hello, how may I help you" the woman behind the reception asked. She looked to be in her 40's with red short hair that was cut in a boyish yet stylish look and she wore big earrings.

"Yes we'd like an appointment are you free right now?" We asked.

"Yes right this way" she said and showed us to our seats, then waved another girl over to do my hair while she asked becca what she wanted to do.

"I want a complete makeover. I'm done with the long hair, I want a medium bob I think, oh and the black has got to go, maybe a warm brown color instead?"

This was when the girl who came over asked what I'd like done and I looked in the mirror as if it would give me the answer.

"Just trim it I don't need anything else"

The truth was of course that for some reason my hair refused to take colors so I couldn't change my blonde hair even if I wanted it, and it grows at an ridicules rate. I once cut it into a bob and it had grown down to my back by the end of the month. I just gave up then. Why on earth this happened I couldn't tell you, but my guess was it had something to do about my tattoo and powers. I just wish I had some way of learning more about all of it. There wasn't exactly an instruction manual for me to read. It was more of a live and learn, do or die situation.

My mother had always loved my long hair. Knowing she did somehow made me feel closer know that she- I stopped my trail of thoughts. I wasn't ready to part with it, simple as that.

"Sure thing hun" the woman smiled and got to work. The Prom would be her last night here, before she was going into what could turn out to a full out war, she was going to use this one day to put her alpha on a break and just be a girl for the night. One night before she would head into the fire.
