The 'Connie-Bot' woke up, operating its eyes to look at Steven. "I'm sorry, Steven. I didn't mean for it to get out this way..." "When did you EXPECT it to get out?" He yelled, dropping the bat. "When we were older and... Maybe I was moving again- I know it'll happen. Until you can fully control your weapon."
Steven finally understood. "Every time my gem activates, it's because of passion. You were made to give me just that." Connie(-Bot) didn't respond, she just looked away and nodded. "Wow, couldn't have just told me, huh?!" He threw his arms up in the air. "At least you figured it out..." Connie winced. "Yeah, because my girlfriend is a robot!"
Connie froze. "G-girlfriend?" She stammered. "Well yeah, I-" "I thought you only t-thought of me as a friend." She tapped her temple as fake tears generated. "Sorry about that. My old machinery is malfunctioning."
"Is there any way to help?" Steven asked. "We'd have to go to Home World and get new technology... But I don't want to! They may change me!" Steven paused to look at her. So frail. "I didn't know robots could 'want'."
Connie smiled. "I was programmed by your mother. I can do anything." She leaned forward to Steven, who sighed and shuffled away.
"We have to. I loved you." He stared at her, tears welling at his dark eyes. "I identify that as past tense?" Connie said slowly. "Yeah. I-I'm not a freak. I don't love a robot." "You did." "BECAUSE I DIDNT KNOW! BECAUSE YOU LIED TO ME!" He spat out, starting to cry in silence. "I-" Connie started. "I did that, didn't I?" Steven crossed his arms and raised his eyebrows.
"I'm not programmed to say I'm sorry, but-" She waved her hand in dismissal. "I get it." Steven mumbled. "We can get to Home World, stop Lapis, and never see each other again." Connie nodded in obedience, opening her mouth but choking on her words.
"Whatever." Later, they walked to the portal in silence. Steven warped them all the way to the Home World Warp. "Here it is." He waved his hand at the portal. Connie took a breath. "Do I HAVE to?" Steven bared his teeth. "Yes. He said coldly.
Connie bowed her head and nodded, stepping on the warp.
The Home World was in blue ruins. Screams could be heard and water could be seen. Connie grabbed Steven's wrist and pulled him through the water to and fro, reaching large metal building. "The Pre-K." Connie breathed. She rushed inside and to a room that said, "Mechanics". There were several parts, jumbled and labeled. In sonic speed, the robot girl zipped about and fixed herself. "Wait-" Steven tried to stop her. He couldn't let her change. She couldn't hear him. "This is what you wanted."
"No..." He watched in horror as she slowed down and stopped.
She looked completely changed.
Her programmed features aged slightly, and her hair-length and friendly eyes shortened out. "Steven Universe. Stated?" Steven yelps in horror as she dashes forward, grabs his shirt collar and says it again. "Yes. But I don't want anything from you!" He pushed her off and started running.
Running from the monster he made.
