"These hats are a little... Overdone... Steven." Connie-Bot looked at the hat with Lapis drawn onto it with smiley faces all over. "Actually-" Steven started when Ronaldo stopped him. "THE SNAKE PEOPLE MADE THEM! TO GET CLOSE TO US!" "Ronaldo, I thought you said they were Diamond People." Petey said from behind him as he put on a hat. "Sorry I didn't invite you, Petey." Steven apologized. "I thought you'd be working." "I would be." Petey responded. They both laughed.
"So Connie, you're a robot." Sadie said. "Why aren't you all... Bleep bleep?" She took a sip of fruit punch and looked around the beach. "I was. But I'm an animatronic. Thankfully Pearl built the original me, so she was able to repair me." Sadie nodded. "I'm glad I'm back. Steven was super annoyed at the old me." Connie snickered.
"Here comes Lapis!" Steven pointed to the balcony, where the blue gem flew down. "Cool Blue Babe!" Lars ran up to her. "Hey." He grinned. Sadie stomped over and pulled him by the ear away. "Hi there... Lapis." Sadie said through gritted teeth while she threw Lars into the ocean. "I love your clothes! And your hair!" Jenny played with her own hair. "Hey! I got, like the best idea! KEKE! BRING THE VOLLEYBALL AND SET UP THE NET! NO, NOT THE SOFTBALL! NO! NO- LET ME DO IT!" Jenny ran over to a red bag by Keke.
In a few seconds they set up the net, and Keke and Garnet were team captains. "Steven." Garnet said. "Jenny." Keke smiled. "Pearl." "Buck." "Amethyst." "Sour Cream." "Steven." "Lars." "Connie." "Sadie." "Steven." "Petey." There were two people left. Ronaldo and Lapis. Keke remembered Lapis stealing the ocean and pointed to Ronaldo. Steven ran over and pulled Lapis over to their side of the net.
"Do you know how to play, Lapis?" He asked. "Are you kidding? Do you know many times little gems have asked me how to play volleyball?" She snarled, spiking the ball at Ronaldo, who screamed and ran away. "I get a point." She said, transforming into beach attire instead of her hot cloak. "Okay, let's get started with the party!" She screamed.
After several hours of getting hit in the face with magic volleyball champions, the humans went to eating. "What are they doing with that stuff?" Lapis looked at the corndogs in disgust. "These are corndogs." Steven held one out to her. "Try one!" She inserted the doughy hot dog into her mouth. "It's... Really good." She ran forward to try other things. French fries, CHAAAPS, hamburgers, and cupcakes and cookies. She loved them all. "Super good, right? The plates taste better." Amethyst stuffed several into her mouth, burping in victory of eating them. "Right..." Lapis backed away.
"Let's go swimming." Buck said to Sour Cream and Jenny. They took off their clothes and jumped in the ocean. "What do they think they're doing with my ocean?" Lapis growled furiously. "Swimming. Having fun." Steven shrugged. "They don't know that. Jasper's still in there. She could..." Lapis took a hand of water and thrust it down onto the teens in rage, knocking them away. "I'm sorry!" She whimpered. "That was epic! I can totally rave to that!" Sour Cream exclaimed. "What? Rave? Er- wait. You liked it?" "Yeah. It was fun." Buck re-applied his glasses.
"Okay umm... Should I do it again?" Lapis asked. "YEAH girl!" Jenny pumped her fists in the air with a smile. Everyone swam in a seaweed circle and Lapis once again slammed the hand against them. She joined them a couple times after that. She thought it was the best thing she had done since Steven found her. "Summer!!!" Steven yelled as he rode a wave.
"Summer." Lapis agreed with a smile as the human crashed to the ground. (That's dark.)
Lapis felt the smooth fabric of the blanket Steven introduced her to. She heard angry murmurs from an ugly redhead boy and a pretty little blonde. "You are such a jerk!" The blonde girl shoved the redhead. He walked out with Steven trailing behind. Lapis walked forward to the blonde, as did an African American girl with short hair. "You okay?" "No. Another argument with Lars about you." "Me?" She asked, sitting down. "Yeah. He like... Like likes you. And not me."
"Boys are dumb." The girl interrupted.
"Steven isn't dumb." Lapis sat down, confused.
"Yes he is." The girl interrupted. "Ask Connie." Connie nodded from somewhere, Lapis was sure. "See? When it comes to romance, boys will never get it until the girls show them." "How do I show him?" The blonde asked. "You can't. But I can." She walked downstairs as Lapis and the other girl (Sadie) followed.
"Lars, you don't like me. You like Sadie. And until you give her appreciation, we ain't gonna hang out any time soon." She flipped her hair with a wide grin. "Wha-?" Lars looked at Steven, who looked constipated trying to hold back a laugh.
Lapis was starting to learn so much about humans...
And maybe even about how much she didn't know.
