"I can see why Malachite split apart because of these guys." Lapis said while rocking one of the Watermelon Stevens in her arms. "They're a handful."
"This one's crying again." Jasper groaned, picking one up by the head.
"Give it to me." Lapis reached forward and put the crying Steven onto her shoulders. "Maybe they're scared of you." Jasper crossed her arms and frowned.
"Good."
"Why do you hate everything, Jasper?"
"Huh?" Jasper turned up to face Lapis, who stood grabbing the ends of her dress.
"You hate everything on this beautiful Earth and beyond. Including everyone you encounter. Me, Steven, Peridot, whoever. Why?" They stood gazing at each other.
"I don't know. I don't really have any other purpose. I'm just the bad guy, Lazuli."
"You don't have to be." Lapis responded quietly.
"Humph." Jasper grunted and turned around.
"Listen, I know you didn't like being made in the Kindergarten—" Lapis began.
"I'm pathetic." Jasper murmured, sitting down with a thump. Lapis sat down quietly next to her.
"But that doesn't mean you're a weed. There's a species of Earth plants called flowers that are planted too, and they're the most beautiful specimen I've seen on this Earth."
"This is sappy, Lazuli. It's like these Earth movies where two specimens do this face dribble but they're... different specimens too, we're, umm..." Jasper tapped her chin with a single finger.
"I think it's called lesbian or something." Lapis laughed. "Hey, maybe we can give you another chance—" A shadow flew out of the sky, heading straight for the island.
