Amethyst sat on a board in the ceiling. She was the shortest of the (female) Crystal Gems. It was nice to feel tall for a change. Or at least high above the ground.
She saw Connie leaving after hanging out with Steven. She knew Pearl hated humans all together, but Amethyst considered herself a human sometimes. They ate, slept, and thought some gems (like Pearl) were weird aliens.
She didn't know why Steven fit in so well. Maybe it's because of Greg?
Maybe it's because Steven didn't raid the Big Donut every morning or wrestle as the Purple Puma.
She saw a shadow come in the door. "Hey Pearl! What's up? Me! Haha!" She dropped down, seeing Pearl's tense face.
"I saw Lapis! She's coming in with Steven! Do you think she has Jasper with her? Last time they were fused! What happened? I hope-" Steven interrupted her, thankfully.
"Guys! Lapis is on a mission!" His eyes went all blurry and starry like they did when he was in awe. "So? We go on missions all the time." Amethyst snorted. "But Lapis isn't a Crystal Gem!"
"It's probably some selfish mission for her benefit. As if she would help this planet in any way." Pearl narrowed her eyes. "Hey! Don't be mean to Lapis!" Steven shouted. "No, she's right Steven. I need you all to help me with a... Selfish mission. It's to find my weapon." Lapis fumbled with her wrists and hands.
"She needs to find the mirror." Garnet walked in, adjusting her glasses, which covered her three eyes. She put her hands on her hips. "When the mirror exploded, the particles of her weapon did too. So-" "When she finds the location of the mirror's remains, it will lead her to her weapon, like reuniting a family!" Pearl said blissfully. "What an adventure!" She swooned.
"Do you know where it went?" Garnet paused and started walking. She vanished outside, Steven and Lapis scurrying behind her. "Are you coming, Amethyst?" Pearl asked, hands clasped together. "Yeah."
The three gems were already in full investigation when Pearl and Amethyst arrived. "Then... Pssh!" Steven was reenacting himself Lapis. His hand jerked into the air. He was pulling out Lapis' gem.
"The mirror broke, and when I ran over, it disappeared in my hands." He paused, putting his hand on a rock. "In the rock?" Pearl questioned. "Yeah." The boy confirmed.
"What if it disappeared in the sand under the rock?" Amethyst suggested. Garnet backed up, and activated Ruby and Sapphire's gems, punching the rock and splitting it open into a few fragments.
"There's a hole." She said bleakly. Lapis did a little hop. "Thank you!" She smiled, her pupils growing with anticipation.
"Good luck Lapis." Steven hugged her genuinely. She froze, blushing. "Er- thank you Steven Universe. May destiny let us meet again." The blue gem responded. Rose's son nodded, his cheeks sparkling. Rose must be happy for him.
Lapis leaped into the hole, activating her wings and disappearing in a blur of water.
