"Oh, so you like 'Fight Club', too? Good taste. That movie's beyond mindfucking."
"Well, I was just amazed by the plot twist at the end... I didn't know it was such a big deal," she claimed.
"Have you read the book?"
"Sadly, no. But it's next on my reading list!" Another blinding smile.
"Well, what else have you read or watch? Anything we might find interesting?"
"Well, I've read The Great Gatsby; light reading, I know, but still... and for the movie, I recently watched Fury." This time, a politely awkward nod.
"Typical." Someone snapped. "Do you play games?"
"What? Like online games? Well, yeah, I used to. What's in the market these days?" Now, an overly-familiar gesture.

That's Desiree for you. You wanna talk to her? Name your subject; she'll gladly take you up.
The conversation above was between Desiree and my old pack. They got along well, not that it's unexpected. My old pack was friendly; she was friendlier. It felt nice to see them connected. There was a familiar ease in the air around us when she talked. Like she was already a part of us. Frankly, it gave me pride. Pride that I had never once picked the wrong people to be around. Desiree, especially, wasn't going to be that one first mistake.
