At times, my mother was fond of being an exorbitant lady, going beyond generousity to those she had not even known well; something which is lovable yet bothersome in this very situation.
I really hoped what she offered to Aruna was no more than a lip service though I remained mute until she responded with a 'yes'. Great. Extraordinarily great.
"Nice. Let's be dismissed and go home. You don't want to let your guest down by our bad hospitality, do you?" Mother said to me.
I shrieked with forced excitement. "I will be more than happy if you come to our house, Aruna."
"So am I," remarked Aruna with a facial expression that was somewhat hard to read whether she was pleased or not although my guess fell for the latter.
You know, I always loved to welcome friends to my house, serving them this and that while building a social empire constructed from my warm reception. But this time, it was quite difficult to me to regard Aruna as a friend. Still, people like to be treated well and savory behavior should be on top of priority.
