Suppose there is one particular inner circle consisting of bright students from my study program and there is a peripheral area surrounding the first circle which then becomes a big container for the so-called social climbers. I, undoubtedly, belong to the former.
We are not forming an exclusive gang. We mingle easily with others. The thing is that most of the time, they just feel reluctant to approach us first. So, automatically, the two social groups sit in different rows in the class. My group, being the lecturers' favorites, dominate the front row.
At first, I was not into putting Aruna in my group. She's a ... Well, she just doesn't fit. But others are just fine with her. Especially Mazmur. He turns out to come from the same high school as Aruna.
If it's not because of her wide knowledge in literature and arts and deep understanding of semiotics, I will surely be cynical to her. And if it's not because of Mazmur and our peer group, the problem between us won't ever have existed.
