Violet
It's been a whole week since I left Elizabeth's house.
The weeks been quiet despite some problems at school.
It's kind of warm out now though which is nice. To get my mind off all the stuff going on in life I made myself a routine that I use every single day.
So, I wake up and go directly to school I requested my work hours be pushed so I directly went to work right after school.
I would leave work at 8 or 10 latest and when I come home I would eat some bread. Then I would change clean up or whatever then do my homework before going directly to bed so I didn't have any time to think.
Which has been working except for the weekend.
My weekends are empty. Free...
Which makes it hard to take stuff off my mind.
And today is Saturday.
I decided staying in this room and it's also nice and hot out so. Out we go.
I decided to wear an oversized button up and some shorts. I left the house an decided to go to the docks again.
I don't know I just find it nice and comforting.
I sat down and let my feet hang down once again.
I took my earbuds out and put my phone in my pocket. I listened to the waves and let the wind blow on my face.
I could hear the birds and watch them fly free in the sky.
Free of worry and pain.
Birds can represent freedom but also captivity.
They can fly free in the sky. Open their wings and fly in the big blue sky.
But they can also be locked in a cage unable to escape. Unable to open their wings and fly as they wish.
I've always loved birds for that.
I heard footsteps and turned my head.
I saw a boy with headphones on walking over to the opposite side. The wind blew on his hair and it moved ruining its style pushing his bangs back.
Even from afar I could see his blue eyes. They were calm and looked free unlike mine which were tired.
He made eye contact with me and gave me a smile which I didn't return. I just tilted my head to the side before turning back to the ocean.
I could hear his footsteps come closer and suddenly he was sitting about a feet away from me.
I could feel him looking at me so I turned to look at him.
I once again came in contact with his blue eyes. But since we were closer I could see them clearly.
They truly were pretty and they were glowing. Shining...
He pulled his headphone down and let it rest around his neck then he smiled. He was like an open book. His eyes smiled together with his face.
"Hello." He said in a deep voice.
I looked at him then turned back to the ocean once again.
I heard him sigh.
"It's pretty today isn't it. " he said.
"The ocean I mean. It's a nice day today to. " he said.
I could feel his eyes land on me so I nodded. "It's pretty. " I said in a quiet voice. "So you do have a voice. I thought you didn't. " he said with a chuckle.
"So what's your name quiet girl? " he asked.
"Why should I tell you? " I asked.
"I'll tell you mine plus I'm not asking for a last name or your identity card. "
"Violet... " I said.
He took his hand out and smiled once again. "Well Violet my name is Elias. " I looked down at his hand.
Then I lifted my own. I was just about to shake it when I chickened out.
"Nice to meet you Elias. " I said instead.
"So Violet what brings you here today? To relax or something. "
I nodded indeed to relax to silence the voices to make my day free of pain and agony. "What are you here for? "
He turned to his bag and then took out a black book. "To sketch. " he said and took out a pencil as well.
"You draw? " he nodded.
"Though my friends don't understand. I like to draw I'd like to think I'm good at it to. " he said resting his weight on his hand as he leaned to his side.
"Can I see?"
He handed the sketchbook to me and I took it from him.
Slowly I pulled the lastic keeping it closed away and opened it.
The first page was empty but after that empty page I saw art.
True art, it was a drawing of a woman with a cup of tea in her hands. She was sketched in pencil yet the gray and black details looked so beautiful.
"Their lovely. " I said with a soft smile.
He smiled back as I handed him the sketchbook. "Can I have your number. " he asked as he took his phone out.
I looked down at the phone in his hand and nodded. I don't know what came over me but...
This is the first time someone my age has been nice to me... Having a friend wouldn't be to bad.
I took his phone and typed my number in then gave it back to him.
He clicked on the call button and my phone started to ring.
"I'll draw you next time. " he said.
I looked back at the ocean and smiled. "I'd like that... "
