My Pov

I got through Route 1 and made it to Viridian City in no time thanks to my bike. On the way, I had caught a Pidgey, Rattata and both Nidoran. I sent them to Professor Oak, as I didn't want to have all Normal-types on my team and I didn't think I want to use my Nidoran so I sent them to Professor Oak too. I did however keep the Caterpie and Mankey that I caught. I hopped off my bike and looked around. Viridian City looks just like it did in the anime. This was so cool. I hurried to the Pokémon Center as all my team needed assistance. I got inside and went to Nurse Joy.

"Nurse Joy, could you heal my Pokémon, please?" I asked.

"Of course. Leave it to us. Chansey." Nurse Joy said. A Chansey came out with a stretcher and she took my Pokémon into the back. While they were back there, I decided to look at Eevee, Caterpie and Mankey's data. I opened my Pokédex and went to Eevee's page first.

"Eevee, the Evolution Pokémon. Its genetic code is irregular. It may mutate if it is exposed to radiation from Evolution stones." the Pokédex said. I then looked up Caterpie. "Caterpie, the Worm Pokémon. If you touch the feeler on top of its head, it will release a horrible stink to protect itself." Finally, I looked up Mankey. "Mankey, the Pig Monkey Pokémon. An agile Pokémon that lives in trees. It angers easily and will not hesitate to attack anything." So, I have a Normal-type, a Bug-type and a Fighting-type. Well, Mankey was going to come in handy at the Pewter Gym. Nurse Joy came back with my Pokémon.

"Everyone is back to full strength." she said. I took my PokéBalls.

"Thank you." I said. I walked outside and and threw them into the air. They opened and revealed Lovie, Caterpie and Mankey.

"Vui!" Lovie squealed as she jumped into my arms.

"Feel better Lovie?" I asked.

"Vui vui vui!" she answered. I looked to my Caterpie and Mankey who were looking around. I knelt down in front of them. I picked up my Caterpie and looked at it closely.

"I think I called you... Free, since you evolve into Butterfree." I said. Caterpie made a happy thrill noise as if to say 'I like that name.' I then looked at Mankey. I patted its head a little and thought about what to name him. "I think the name Primo suits you."

"Mankey!" Primo said, seeming to like the new name. I looked toward the Viridian Forest. I had to go through the forest to make it to Pewter City.

"Alright! Lovie, Free, Primo. Our journey starts now!" I said. All my Pokémon cheered. I returned Free and Primo and hopped back on my bike. Lovie hopped back in the basket and I pedaled toward the forest. Hopefully, I could make it through the forest before nightfall. While going through the forest, I let Lovie, Free and Primo battle the various Bug Pokémon. Thanks to that training, Free evolved into Metapod. I looked at Metapod's data.

"Metapod, the Cocoon Pokémon. The evolved form of Caterpie. This Pokémon is vulnerable to attack while its shell is soft, exposing its weak and tender body." the Pokédex said. Just a little more and I'll have a Butterfree. I was just getting ready to head toward the end when Lovie's ears perked up.

"What is it Lovie?" I asked.

"Vui." she said, pointing toward a bush that was rustling. That's when a Pikachu jumped out.

"Oh wow! A Pikachu!" I exclaimed. I pointed my Pokédex at it.

"Pikachu, the Mouse Pokémon. When several of these Pokémon gather, their electricity could build and cause lightning storms." the Pokédex said. I had to catch it.

"Lovie, Tackle." I said. She jumped out of the basket and rammed into Pikachu. Pikachu popped up and used Thunder Shock. "Lovie, dodge it and hit it with Tackle one more time." She managed to jump out of the way and rammed into Pikachu again. I took out one of my PokéBalls. "PokéBall, go!" I threw the ball and it hit Pikachu. The ball opened and a red light enveloped Pikachu and was absorbed into the ball. The ball closed and started wiggling back and forth. Then, the red light went out with a ding. "Yes! I caught my own Pikachu!" I said, holding the ball in my hand.

"Vui vui!" Lovie squealed. I decided to let my new Pikachu out so I could heal it. I opened the PokéBall and Pikachu shook itself.

"Here, Pikachu. This will sting, but it heal you." I said, holding a Potion. I sprayed a little on Pikachu.

"Piiiika!" Pikachu cried. Lovie, Free and Primo all reacted the same way too. Just then, the sky started growing dark. "Pika?" I noticed Pikachu's tail stick up. "Pika. Pikachu." Pikachu started motioning for us to follow it. I grabbed my bike and started pushing it while Lovie followed Pikachu. We came to a small cave. I placed my bike up against the cave wall and sat down on one of the small flat rocks.

"I guess we'll have to wait for the storm to stop." I said. I decided to introduce Primo and Free to Pikachu. "Come on out, you two!" I threw their PokéBalls in the air and they opened.

"Primo, Free. Meet our new teammate, Zippy." I said. Primo and Free looked at Zippy. Mankey and Zippy shook hands, er- paws and Free just greeted him. Lovie joined in properly greeting the new member of our team. Suddenly, there was a huge flash of lightning. All of my Pokémon suddenly jumped on me, frightened by the flash. "There, there. It's okay." Not long after that lightning strike, the sky cleared up. We all went outside and saw the most beautiful rainbow stretching across the sky. "Look at that."

Vui... Vui? Eievui!" Lovie chirped.

"What is it, Lovie?" I asked.

"Vui!" She pointed toward something in the sky. I looked and saw a large bird Pokémon flying over head. Wait, that's...

"Ho-oh!" I exclaimed. Something fell off of Ho-oh and fluttered down toward me. I held out my hands and looked at what it was.

It was a Rainbow Wing! I looked up just as Ho-oh flew away and the rainbow faded

It was a Rainbow Wing! I looked up just as Ho-oh flew away and the rainbow faded. I held the Rainbow Wing close. This was a sign, My journey was going to be amazing. I dug through my bag and found a small little oval case. I placed the Rainbow Wing in the case and then fashioned the case to look like a necklace. I adjusted it a little and then clasped it around my neck. "Alright, guys! Are first stop is Pewter City to win a Boulder Badge." All my Pokémon cheered. I returned all of them except Lovie to their PokéBalls. I hopped on my bike, Lovie hopped in the basket and we headed out of the forest. I was excited to see what awaited on the road ahead.

Mankey is named after Primo Carnera, a boxer who won more fights by knockout more than any other heavyweight champion in history at that time. Also the case Winnie has is about the same as the one Luka kept her great-grandfather's Silver Wing in.
