My Pov

I had been riding my bike around as I went a different route to Fuchsia City. I was excited to go to the Safari Zone to see what Pokémon I could catch there. After what felt like hours, I finally made it to Fuchsia City. Instead of going straight to the Gym, I decided to checkout the Safari Zone. I had to pay a fee, but by the end of my time, it had been worth it. I now had a Tangela, Chansey, Rhyhorn, Doduo, Ponyta, Slowpoke and Venonat. I trained my Pokémon a little more until I felt I was ready. From what I remember Koga would use Venomoth and Golbat. Fireball and Zippy were my best bet. I glupped and went inside. I didn't know what to expect from a Gym Leader who was also a ninja.

"Vui..." Lovie groaned. I could tell she was nervous too. I stopped for a minute to look around, but Lovie kept walking. I just happened to look down and, at the right angle, I thought I saw something.

"Lovie, stop!" I yelled, grabbing her and lifting her up. I could feel her tense up. I carefully went to right to where Lovie had been I gently ran my pinkie along the space and felt something. Tripwire. I carefully stepped over it and carefully began walking forward. I swear these people are trying to scare their opponents so bad that they don't even challenge the Gym. With trapdoors, tripwires and Voltorb everywhere, I'm shocked I didn't just say 'screw it' and turn back. I finally found a room where everything seemed normal. I slumped to the floor while Lovie just panted. That's when a barrage of shuriken came at us and pinned us to the wall.

"You let your guard down." a voice said. I looked up to see Aya, Koga's sister.

"Yeah. I got that." I said, obviously not amused. I managed to pulled shuriken out of my clothes and the ones around Lovie. Poor thing looked like she was about to have a breakdown. "Can you please tell Koga I'm here for a Gym Battle to earn a Soul Badge."

"What makes you think you are worthy of challenging my brother?" Aya scoffed. I don't know if it was the stress of traps in the death house or if I was maybe a little sleep deprived, but I lost my patience.

"LOOK HERE! I THOUGHT I WAS ABOUT TO DIE TRYING TO FIND MY WAY THROUGH THIS DEATH TRAP YOU CALL A GYM AND MY POOR EEVEE IS ON THE VERGE OF HAVING A PANIC ATTACK! IF THIS IS HOW YOU TREAT ALL OF YOUR CHALLENGERS, YOU HAVE NO BUISNESS BEING A GYM!" I screamed. I was red in the face and glaring at Aya, who seemed to actually be scared of me.

"We treat challengers respect when they've earned it." a deep voice said. Both Aya and I looked and saw Koga standing in the doorway.

"So, scaring them half to death is the way for them to earn it?" I asked, still fuming.

"It is to weed out those who are weak-willed and those who have strong convictions." Koga said.

"Well, I made it through your traps. Now, I want a match to win a Soul Badge." I said. Koga smirked.

"You did get through the Trick House. Let's see how you do battle." Koga said. "He took out his first Pokémon. "Go Venomoth!" Venomoth appeared in a flash of white light. Venomoth? Unless this was a different one, his Venonat already evolved which means Ash was already here. I needed to hurry. I decided to register Venomoth in my Pokédex.

"Venomoth, the Poison Moth Pokémon and the evolved form of Venonat. The dust-like scales covering its wings are color coded to indicate the kinds of poison it has." the Pokédex said.

"Go, Fireball!"" I exclaimed, throwing Fireball's PokéBall. My Flareon appeared and was ready for a battle.

"Flare!" he exclaimed.

"Venomoth, Stun Spore!" Koga said. Venomoth flew overhead and an orange dust came from its wings.

"Fireball, counter it with Smog!" I said. Fireball released a black cloud of smoke that absorbed with Stun Spore.

"Venomoth, dive into the smoke and attack!" Koga said. Venomoth dove in. This was too easy.

"Use Flamethrower on the smog cloud!" I said. Fireball let a fiery stream hit the cloud, which caused it to explode. This caused Venomoth to go flying, injured and burned. "Use Quick Attack!" Fireball sprang forward and rammed into Venomoth, knocking it out.

"Venomoth is unable to battle! Flareon is the victor!" Aya called. Koga returned Venomoth.

"You're Flareon is very skilled. First, using its Smog to protect itself from Venomoth's Stun Spore and then using its Flamethrower to do more damage." Koga complimented.

"I've practiced that trick several times." I said. Koga smirked.

"Let's see how well you do against this. Go, Golbat!" Koga said. He threw another PokéBall and it revealed the large bat Pokémon. I pointed my Pokédex at it.

"Golbat, the Bat Pokémon and the evolved form of Zubat. Once it strikes, it will not stop draining energy from the victim even if it gets too heavy to fly." the Pokédex said.

"Fireball, return." I said. I held out hid PokéBall. A red light enveloped him and he went back inside. I took out Zippy's PokéBall. "Go, Zippy!" I said. I threw the ball and it opened, revealing my Pikachu.

"Pikachu!" Zippy exclaimed.

"Golbat, Screech!" Koga said. Golbat let out a loud scream, causing me and Zippy to cover our ears. "Wing Attack!" Golbat swooped down and knocked Zippy into the air. Golbat went back and forth, hitting Zippy repeatedly. I had to think fast. That's when it hit me.

"Zippy!" I yelled. Zippy looked down at me. "Move at the last minute and grab Golbat's wing!" Right as Golbat was about to hit Zippy again, Zippy somersaulted above Golbat's wing and grabbed it. "Thunderbolt, full power!" Zippy began to charge his power.

"Pi... ka..." Zippy began to chant.

"Golbat, shake it off!" Koga yelled.

"CHU!" Zippy exclaimed, letting electricity fly through the air. Golbat and Zippy fell hard towards the ground, causing a dust cloud to form. When the dust settled, Zippy was shaking the dust off while Golbat was revealed to have fainted.

"Golbat is unable to battle! Pikachu is the victor! The winner of this Gym Battle is Winifred Evos of Pallet Town." Aya said. Koga returned Golbat and Zippy ran over to me and jumped into my arms.

"Cha!" Zippy squealed.

"You did so good, Zippy! I'm so proud of you!" I said, nuzzling my cheek against his. Koga walked over to me.

"You proved yourself well. You and your Pokémon were in complete sync with each other. I am honored to present you with this." Koga said, holding out his hand. In it was a Soul Badge. I took it and marveled at it. This was my fifth badge. That's when I remembered Koga's Venomoth.

"Koga, was a Trainer named Ash Ketchum here before me?" I said. Koga pondered for a minute before a lightbulb went off.

"Yes. He was also a very interesting challenger. Just a hot-tempered." he said. I sweat dropped a little, kind of feeling insulted. Wait. That means... I'm behind!

"Thanks! I've got to hurry back to Saffron City!" I said. I bowed and quickly exited the Gym. I went to the Pokémon Center, healed up my Pokémon and began pedaling like crazy to Saffron City.
