My Pov

Do you wanna travel with us?

That question echoed in my mind. Did I want to travel with them? I thought about all the adventures they would go on and people they would meet, but then again, I would like to try and make my own adventures.

"Thanks for the offer, but I think I'll travel by myself for right now." I said.

"Are you sure?" Misty asked. I nodded.

"Yeah. Maybe if we meet later on down the line, I'll change my mind. For now, it'll be just me and my Pokémon." I said. I waved good-bye and hopped on my bike. As I pedaled away, I heard Ash call out.

"I hope to see you at the Indigo League Winnie!" he called. I balled up my fist and raised it up, signaling I would make it to the Indigo League. I needed to go to Vermillion City next, but there's no shame in taking a detour. I checked my map and saw that the Power Planet was to the right of Cerulean City. Of course, I couldn't get there without Surf and Tad was too little to carry me there. Besides, I didn't want to run the chance of running into the Titan of Thunder, Zapdos. I thought for a while and decided to travel around and bond with my Pokémon a little. Especially Tad since he was my new addition. I also decided to bring Free back as I wanted to train him up too. I headed to Route 24 and managed to catch more Pokémon and trained Free and Tad. Free learned Supersonic and Tad had learned Water Gun and Hypnosis. There was only one Pokémon I couldn't find. I needed it to trade to get another Pokémon. Lovie was sniffing around before her ears popped up.

"What is it Lovie?" I asked.

"Vui!" she exclaimed. She pointed in a direction with her tail and was motioning for me to keep quiet. I crouched down and quietly moved the grass out of the way and saw what she had sensed. It was an Abra! I tried to be as quiet as possible. I took out one of the PokéBall I had bought and threw it as hard as a I could. It hit Abra on the side of the head and it was sucked into the ball. The ball wiggled three times and the light went out.

"Yes!" I exclaimed. I ran and picked up the ball. Now, I needed to head back to Pewter City to trade this. Lovie suddenly perked her ears up and ran into some bushes. "Lovie?" She suddenly busted through the bushes as if she was being chased.

"Vui! Vui!" she cried as she jumped into my arms.

"Lovie, what's wrong?" I asked. That's when a spout of water shot from the bushes and hit us both. "Hey, what the hell?!" That's when a Wartortle jumped out of the bushes.

"Wartortle, the Turtle Pokémon and the evolved form of Squirtle. Often hides in water to stalk unwary prey. For swimming fast, it moves its ears to maintain balance." my Pokédex said. Wait. Did this Wartortle belong to...?

"Wartortle, did you find it?" a voice called out. I knew it. From the bushes emerged the grandson of Professor Oak. Gary Oak. Gary and I made eye contact. Then he saw Lovie in my arms. "Wait a minute. Does that Eevee belong to you?"

"Yes. She was given to me by Professor Oak when I became a Pokémon Trainer." I said.

"Aw man! Here I thought I found a wild Eevee." Gary whined. I'll find your own Eevee in due time. You're not evolving my Lovie into Umbreon. "Wait. You said my grandpa gave you that Eevee?"

"Yeah." I said.

"That must mean your the daughter of his best pupil, Louisa Evos." Gary said.

"Yeah. So?" I asked.

"From what I hear, she was an amazing Pokémon Trainer and was specially known as the Eevee Master." Gary said.

"Eevee Master?" I asked.

"Your aunt probably never told you, but your mother had taken on the Elite Four in her day. Not just with any team, but a team that contained all three evolutions of Eevee; Vaporeon, Jolteon and Flareon. She became Champion and even traveled to different regions and supposedly found other evolutions of Eevee, but Gramps is the only one whose seen them." So, my mom found Espeon, Umbreon, Leafeon, Glaceon and Sylveon. Neat. "So, how strong are you?"

"Pardon?" I asked.

"I said, how strong are you? You were the last to leave Pallet. Even Ashy boy got his Pokémon before you and he overslept." Gary said.

"If you want a battle, just say so!" I said, getting angry at his cocky attitude.

"Alright. How about one-on-one? Your Eevee versus my Wartortle?" Gary asked.

"You're on!" I said.

"Eievui!" Lovie agreed.

"Good. Wartortle, Tackle!" Gary commanded. Wartortle sped toward Lovie.

"Jump, then use Quick Attack." I said. Lovie jumped out of the way and then quickly turned and rammed into Wartortle.

"Nice maneuver. Wartortle, Water Gun!" Gary said. Wartortle shot a spout of water that hit Lovie dead on.

"Vui!" Lovie exclaimed. She slid a bit before getting back up and shaking herself dry.

"Lovie, Mimic." I said. She body glowed orange and then her tail glowed orange.

"An Eevee that knows Mimic, huh? Interesting. Wartortle, Rapid Spin!" Gary said. Wartortle tucked itself into its shell and spun toward Lovie.

"Lovie, use Quick Attack to slide underneath it and use Water Gun." I said. Lovie quickly zipped underneath Wartortle and then shot a spout of water at it that sent it into the air. Wartortle popped out of its shell in surprise.

"War?" it said.

"Quick Attack one more time!" I said. Lovie zipped into the air and rammed into Wartortle. The turtle Pokémon fell to the ground, creating a cloud of dust, as Lovie landed on her feet. When the dust cleared, Wartortle had been knocked out. Gary returned it.

"Well, you may have started last, but at least you have skill and are raising your Pokémon well." Gary said. I heard that cocky tone, but I could tell he was being sincere in his complement.

"Thanks. I'm trying my best." I said.

"Well, I think you're more worthy of being a rival than Ashy boy." Gary said.

"Hey! Ash may be reckless and full of himself sometimes, but he's a good Trainer." I said.

"Whatever you say. Well, I guess you're heading to Vermillion City to earn a Thunder Badge?" Gary asked.

"Yeah and before you ask about my team, two of my Pokémon are in the process of learning Dig and I have a Grass-type which will also help." I said.

"Okay okay! Sheesh!" Gary exclaimed. I narrowed my eyes at him. "Well, from what I've heard, the Vermillion City Gym Leader's Pokémon are really strong. You better be prepared." With that, he walked off. I stuck my tongue out at him.

"Jerk." I said. Lovie nudged against my leg. I scratched her head. I decided to let everyone out to just enjoy the weather since they deserved a break. Lovie and Zippy were play wrestling, Primo was jumping around in the trees and Dot was burrowing in the shade. That's when I noticed Free just looking at the sky. "Free?" I walked over to him and he still keep looking at the sky. I looked up in his direction and saw a small group of maybe five or six wild Butterfree flying toward the mountains in the distance. I looked at Free and noticed the look. It looked like the same look Ash's Butterfree had as a Caterpie when he and Pikachu were looking at the moon and he was imagining being a Butterfree. Oh no. Why did I have this sinking feeling I was going to have a Bye-Bye Butterfree moment and not that far away in the future?

Spoiler Alert; it's the next chapter. Sorry! Like Ash, my first released Pokémon is going to be Butterfree. I will say this, I'm going to be more of a given away/traded Trainer than release back into wild and it won't be that much throughout the entire series(from Kanto to Journeys).
