This will be the last chapter featuring the Indigo League. After this, I'm not entirely certain if I'll cover the Orange Island arc or if I'll just jump straight to Johto. Also, since Ritchie is a doppelganger of Ash, the Pokémon he'll use in our match are Butterfree, Pikachu, Charmander, Shellder, Spearow and Weepinbell. Also, please don't knock the nicknames I give his three Pokémon or of the other thing that will happen.

My Pov

Ash's battle with Ritchie had come and gone, with Ritchie winning on a technically. Ash's Charizard refused to obey him and battle Sparky, which resulted in Ash losing the match. I was facing Ritchie next and it would be a full battle instead of three-on-three. Abbie and I went for a walk and were heading back to the lodge. When we got back, everyone but Ash was in the living room.

"Is he still sulking?" I asked.

"Yeah. He's feeling sorry for himself." Brock said.

"I thought Ash was happy for Ritchie?" Abbie asked.

"He does, but the sting of losing is outweighing that right now." I said.

"Well, he can't just mope around forever." Misty said. She lifted Togepi off her lap and went to the bedroom. I followed behind her with Lovie by my side. Ash was on his side while Pikachu sat on the opposite bunk. Misty tried talking to Ash, but he blew off all the suggestions she made with an attitude.

"Ash, you need to get over losing. It's kind of your own fault that Charizard doesn't listen to you. You haven't trained it well enough." I said. That's when Ash spun around.

"Who asked you?!" Ash snapped.

"Don't yell at Winnie, Ash! She's right!" Misty said. Pikachu and Lovie both jumped in between us, trying to calm us down. Brock, Abbie and Mrs. Ketchum came into the room.

"Please don't fight!" Abbie said, clutching Zinnia to her chest.

"Oddish odd!" Zinnia said.

"All right, enough of that!" Brock said.

"Don't be angry with Misty or Winnie, dear. They both think you should be happy." Mrs. Ketchum said.

"Why?" Ash asked.

"No offense Ash, but to me, it seems like you barely trained your Pokémon in the two months we had to prepare. So the fact you got as far as you did is nothing short of lucky." I said.

"I won my matches, just like you did!" Ash said.

"Except, Winnie spent time training not just the Pokémon she always had on hand, but the other Pokémon she had caught so she could be prepared. You just used the same Pokémon you've had since the beginning. You're lucky you made it past the first round." Misty said.

"I'm just as good a Trainer as Winnie is!" Ash shouted. That's when Professor Oak walked in.

"I'm a afraid I'll have to disagree Ash." he said. We all looked at him. "True, you've seen many Pokémon. As far as training, however, this was the first time you ever used Krabby and I'm sure if it hadn't evolved into Kingler, you would have lost your first match. Winnie on the other hand, captured many different Pokémon and during the two months between returning to Pallet and the competition, she trained and evolved many of them, giving her more of an advantage. As a Pokémon Trainer, you can't rely on intuition and strength alone. You need to have the skill and understanding of your Pokémon to help them adapt to any situation they're thrown in."

"Like how Winnie's Vileplume used Poison Powder to cover the field to find Natasha's Clefable or when Winnie's Chansey used Minimize to avoid Jonah's Muk's Hyper Beam." Abbie said. It seemed to sink into Ash's head that he could've have done more to prepare. I noticed the time and realized I had to get to the arena. We all hurried to the arena. Professor Oak, Mrs. Ketchum and Abbie took their seats while the rest of us went to the locker room. There we found Ritchie.
