"Pluto was once considered a planet. The ninth planet of the Solar System. But the year 2006 changed its status when The International Astronomical Union (IAU) downgraded the status of Pluto to that of a dwarf planet because it did not meet the three criteria the IAU uses to define a full-sized planet.

"Pluto used to orbit the Sun about 3.6 billion miles (5.8 billion km) away on average, about 40 times as far as Earth, in a region called the Kuiper Belt. It took an oval-shaped path with the Sun nowhere near its centre. What's more, its path was quite tilted compared to the planets.

"As years went by, the Sun's centrifugal force and magnetic field decreased. This caused Pluto to break away and float aimlessly out of this Solar System with only its moons for company on the fateful year 3005. It was discovered in the year 3224 that Pluto had started to orbit around Proxima Centauri, which is a small, low-mass star located 4.2465 light-years away from the Sun in the southern constellation of Centaurus.

"Nobody is sure how, but it seemed that Pluto had suffered a similar asteroid attack in the year 3275 as Earth a few decades ago. Only, this proved an advantage to our former dwarf planet. Because these asteroids brought something with them that, until then, had not left the Solar System: Oxygen. Now, with Pluto and the Proxima Centauri star having the right distance between them, the frozen plains began to melt, giving rise to a long list of elements that not even Earth had seen. The perfect distance between the star and the planet also lets Pluto have the perfect weather conditions needed to sustain life."

Yumi jerked her wrist, causing the hovering text to fade. She flumped back into her smooth bed, blowing upwards blow away her hair from her face. As she gazed at her darkened ceiling, a million thoughts jogged through her head.

'Live life in Pluto?' She thought scathingly to herself, 'Ha,'

As if the Plutoians would let Earthians live with them!

She turned over on her bed, Captain Kim's words still ringing in her ear, "The Plutoians used to be Earthians once."

Yumi couldn't think of a polite and professional way she could tell Captain Kim that she believed that the Plutoians would brutally rip him apart and feast on his flesh if they were to ever hear what he had said.

Thinking about it, she casually swiped over her wristband letting the next text hover over her in midair.

HYBRIDS

"Humans consider Hybrids to be one of the most ludicrous creatures in this Universe. However, most humans like to ignore that Hybrids were created by humans themselves. In fact, nobody knows who managed the superhuman feat of starting a whole new family of species.

"Hybrids were discovered in the year 3134, in Seoul, South Korea. It is said that an anonymous scientist believed that Humans and Animals could have a beautifully close relationship. For years, they experimented and formed theories, and then they managed to climb onto their peak and introduce the first baby hybrid into this world. This hybrid owned specialized cells that could divide and form completely different structured tissues in milliseconds! Hence, this species was composed of humans who could turn themselves into one specific animal at will.

"Unfortunately, this exceptional scientist had to face an early death because of one experiment that went wrong, and due to privacy grounds, they are still unknown to us. Nevertheless, they survived long enough to watch their first hybrid grow up like a human and also create other hybrids with their own breed and species. Thus, these creatures were finally exposed to Earth.

"Sadly, these creatures were not accepted in public as they had hoped for. The public envied these creatures and feared the power they radiated. They had to encounter severe discrimination and had to face humans who treated them as their slaves. As technology grew, so did the cruelty of humans. Hybrids were not allowed in the regions humans were in. Hybrids were taught to act inferior to humans. Hybrids were taught to exist for human greed, to detach themselves from their feelings and emotions, to give up on what one would consider basic human rights, that they did not deserve the same treatment humans did because of their birth. Millions of babies and young hybrids were bullied. As more pure animals went extinct, more hybrids were hunted and captured in the zoo for amusement. Many died as a result. When hybrids finally found their voice, their protests were answered with heavy oppression. This continued until the year 3876.

"Sadly, the cruelty didn't stop because humans had any revelation. The hybrids had to take matters into their own hand. As technology grew, the universe shrank. More outer space celestial bodies became accessible to humans. Trips out of Earth became more common. When it became known that Pluto could now sustain life, Hybrids began plotting to use it to their advantage. Soon, it was confirmed that Pluto could be reached after a couple of astronauts managed to procure a few precious metals from the planet, although it took a couple of years even with a spaceship with the speed of light itself.

"The last time the Earth saw of Hybrids was in the year 3876. This year, all the Hybrid survivors decided that the third planet of the Solar System was not suitable for their lifestyle or even survivability. Martians were quick to refuse Hybrids to live on Mars. This year, little by little, the leftover hybrids fled Earth, hoping against hope that Pluto would prove to be their savior. They managed to get their hands on spacecrafts of high speed with long-lasting engines. With their population dwindling rapidly, it was easier for them to transport themselves and escape humans' prying clutches.

"For decades, it was unknown whether or not they survived traveling all the way to a planet almost four lightyears far away from Earth. However, in the year 4221, astronauts again traveled to the planet and managed to snap pictures of the blooming civilization on Pluto. Although they barely made it back to Earth alive (The Hybrids, now known as Plutoians, were less than happy with human appearance), they reported that the Plutoians managed to make Pluto their new home and now thrived happily in there. They also reported that the climate on Pluto was a lot like Earth's as it was within rational distance from Proxima Centauri. Hence, we can say that the Hybrids' lifestyle is a lot like us Humans ourselves."

Yumi jerked her wrist again, causing the hovering text to fade. Her wristband indicated that it was already two in the morning, thirty-two minutes past two, to be exact. I need sleep.

She couldn't just sleep, however. How could she? Sleep seemed a foreign word on this planet now.

Humans in Pluto... She could see how well that would go. She and her team would land, get out of their spaceship, spread their arms to bask in whatever heat and light Proxima provided, take a deep breath, admire whatever beauty Pluto had, etc...

... only to immediately rush back into the spacecraft as every single one of the Plutoians in sight would bare their animalistic teeth at them as they would thunder towards them, intending to munch on their damn guts.

On one side, she felt bad. And guilty. Although she hadn't been alive at that time, she knew she couldn't expect the Plutoians to clean after them. She really didn't know why Captain Kim would even bother considering Pluto. Not after what humans did to the people living there.

On the other hand, she really didn't know any alternatives.

A small, almost non-existent part of her brain could see that Captain Kim's plan was well thought-out. The distance between Pluto and Proxima was proportional to that between Earth and the Sun. From the reports made by astronauts, it had conditions suitable to Humans too, as Hybrids were partly humans, although they'd probably hate being called that.

I need sleep, she thought again. She still couldn't sleep.

What was going to happen? Were they ever going to actually execute the plan? Would Plutoians accept them(Seemed unlikely)? Or would they launch the humans right back into space(This seemed more likely)? Would they just have to accept the extinction of humans? That Earth has finally neared its end?

Yumi gazed at her ceiling, mind reeling, before she just flipped over to lie on her stomach and buried her face back into her synthetic fiber pillow.

I really, really need sleep.

A/N: I nearly had a brainstroke writing this. I've no clue why y'all are reading me scientifically explaining bullshit, but there you go. And don't worry, in a couple of chapters our main man is gonna his grand entrance. I hope you enjoyed reading this :)
