DREW MADDEN IS KNOWN as the Heartbreaker of Woodsboro, as someone who either rejects everyone who asks them out or dumps everyone they go out with, and as someone who loves to go to parties. Most think she's just shallow or that she just has standards that are too high, but that's not necessarily the case.

When Drew was younger, she was often bullied and picked on for being undesirable or not being attractive enough for people. It's either that, or she was taken advantage of in some way. Any time a guy actually expressed interest in her, it always ended up being a joke or a prank of some sort, or they were just using her for their own personal gain. Girls would pretend to be her friend on purpose, only to set her up for embarrassment and humiliation or disappointment. It was hard for her to find genuine friends, being known as the ugly girl no one wants.

And, her home life wasn't the best either. Her mother and father were clearly a dysfunctional relationship that only got married because her mom got pregnant with her. Her dad was the first ever bully in Drew's life, as he was the main one to jumpstart Drew's poor self esteem and self image. He degraded her and took advantage of her and her kindness and her innocence. Not to mention he was quite the unfaithful lover, if you would even call the relationship between him and Drew's mother love in the first place.

Her mother wasn't really the best either, as she was constantly careless when it came to her parenting, and the well-being of her child. Sam Carpenter, Drew's babysitter and the older sister of her beloved friend, Tara, knew more about Drew and the bullying she endured than her own mother knew about her in general. Drew was often the one getting her heart broken.

But one day, she decided to change that. She wanted to avoid getting hurt again, and the only way she could do that is by not wearing her heart on her sleeve, but instead, locking it up, and keeping the key to herself and only allowing access to certain people. This way, she could avoid being heartbroken by anyone. She's built up her confidence, and her own style, and stopped allowing people to walk all over her, and ended up becoming the heartbreaker. She became the hot girl that everyone wants but can't have.

She's known for often rejecting guys that express their love and desire for her, and constantly getting invited to parties, as well as her slight player tendencies. Despite this, many guys still try to come after her, thinking they could have a chance to win her over and 'change her'.

Although, they don't really have a chance. Drew's got her eye on someone else, someone who's important to her, who she's close to. That person being Chad Meeks-Martin. Drew's known him and the others since her childhood. They met in third grade, when Chad stood up for her in front of her bullies, which lead to him getting into a fight, which got him suspended for a week, the two of them had been friends ever since.

Chad never made fun of her or took advantage of her in anyway, and tended to actually protect her from anyone who tried to hurt her. He stuck with her through thick and thin, and stayed by her side even after her sudden change in behavior.

"Really? You still want to be my friend? Even after I changed?" Drew asked him, needing the reassurance.

"Of course. You'll always be the same Drew I know and love, you've just changed the way other people see you. But, you haven't changed much to me. No matter what, I'll stick with you, through thick and thin." Chad smiled.

He knew that her sudden change was her way of protecting her from getting hurt again by anyone, but he also knew that deep down, she's still herself. He was one of the only few people who knew her true self, and knew every side of her. As they got closer, and as time went on, both Drew and Chad had developed feelings for each other.

However, neither spoke up, as Chad was worried that she probably doesn't feel that way towards him, or doesn't wish to have anything romantic between them, while Drew was more worried that she could get her heartbroken once again and was overall afraid of being rejected or ruining their friendship.

So instead, they both chose to actively deny their feelings about each other, and shove them down, and repress them as time moved on, only remaining close friends while never actually speaking up about their true feelings, while only everyone else in the friend group knew, except for them, but now, after an attack by a serial killer in their town, they both come to the discovery that their feelings might still be present.
