HEN

It was dead silent the whole way back to the station. No one knew what to say or how to say it.
Bobby was always fair with his discipline. He only gave it out when people definitely deserved it or when they behaved in a 'Buck' way. Emma did not behave in a 'Buck' way, Emma thought ahead and saved a little girl's life. None of us would have thought to flush her out instead of digging to get to her; just because it had been risky didn't mean it had been wrong.
As the truck pulled back into the station, I watched as Emma was the first to jump out, walking away quickly to the lockers. She pulled out her bag before practically running up to John, exchanging a few shorts words before they both walked away, probably towards the showers.
"So that was intense," Chim whistled, leaning against the side of the truck as Bobby went up the stairs to the kitchen.
"Tell me about it, that was not like Bobby," I turned to look at the two guys before starting to walk ahead as well, heading for the rest area.
"You think there's maybe more to Gonzales being here? What if she wasn't transferred? What if she was removed from another station?" Chim offered, curiously leaning his head back to look at the corridor where John had reappeared without Emma. "Maybe Bobby is being so strict because she's already got a bad track record with authority?"
"Doubt it," Eddie mumbled quietly as we reached the second floor, eyeing Bobby carefully as he moved around in the kitchen.
"How come?" Chim pushed, all of us stopping at the couch, sitting in front of the TV.
"She's a marine, a sergeant at that," Eddie stated like it obviously explained everything.
"So?" I shrugged at him,
"So you don't rank as a staff sergeant by being bad with authority," Eddie concluded, "she would have had her own command, lots of responsibilities, and duties to fulfil."
"So she's the last person you'd expect to suck with authority, got it," Chimney nodded.
"I'm guessing you're a fan of hers then?" I asked Eddie, raising my brows at him,
He shrugged, sighing as he leaned back against the couch, "I think she's alright, she's not exactly friendly, but she's a good firefighter."
"I think I can wear her down," Chimney concluded, slapping his hands down on his thighs, "some good Chimney humour, some famous stories and we'll be best friends."
Eddie snorted, "Doubt it, she's a marine."
"Is that gonna be your response to everything she does?" I laughed, glancing back at Bobby in case he felt left out.
"Trust me, seven years in service, and everything she does is going to be as a result of being a marine," Eddie decided, getting up swiftly to head over to Bobby.
"What do you think of her, Hen?" Chim asked me softly, his face openly curious.
I liked Emma. It felt nice to have a fellow woman on the team, and she already showed that she had skills. "I think she's great."
"So then you'll go talk to her?" Chim shot up out of his seat, throwing me a cheeky smile,
"Excuse me?" I demanded, placing my arm over the back of the sofa to watch him walk away.
"Yeah, someone should really make sure she's alright, you know? Invite her to dinner and maybe after work drinks to celebrate her arrival?" Chimney threw me finger guns before rushing off to join Bobby, who was talking quietly with Eddie.
