EMMA

"Hey, Sarge, quick question?" Luca popped his head around the flap of the tent that was acting as my office, his face slightly sunburnt.

"Is it work related?" I stifled my growing smile, focusing on the files on top of my desk instead.

"Uh..." Luca grinned, coming into the tent, rocking back on forth on his heels, "no?"

"Then, I think you should get back to your post, soldier," I shook my head, glancing up at him quickly.

"Oooh..." Luca sucked in a breath playfully, clasping his hands together, "I was kind of hoping I could just chill with you, help you out an' all."

I snorted lightly, finally turning to him fully, "I am quite capable of working all by myself, Parelli."

"Parelli?" Luca clutched his chest playfully, "Parelli? After you spent all night calling me baby? That's harsh."

My cheeks flushed and I rushed forward, grabbing his arm to pull him further in the tent before I poked my head outside, checking no one was there. "You can't be that loud about—"

The pads of Luca's fingers were slightly calloused as his hands cupped my cheeks, pulling my face up towards him so he could easily press his lips into mine. He was smiling, so full of himself and oh, so cocky.

I refused to kiss him back out of pure pettiness. Instead, I jabbed his side, making him flinch back and groan playfully before taking a step back.

"You're mean," he grinned, "I like it."

I rolled my eyes, moving around him, his eyes following me as I went, "I might have to write you up if you continue your insubordination, soldier."

"Talk dirty to me, mama," Luca teased, coming up to my makeshift desk as I went back to my files. "Come on, they're going to find out in a few months anyway. You sure you don't have time to hang out with me?"

"Is hanging out with you going to end up with more nakedness?" I combatted, looking up at him.

"I'd fuckin' hope so," he grinned bashfully.

I scoffed, shaking my head at him before pointing to the exit, "Out. I have work to do. I still have to cover all bases with the higher-ups before we make any announcements."

"I'm work, do me," he poked my cheek lightly, before he lowered his hand into mine, squeezing it softly. "Come on, everyone wants you to join, not just me. We're playing volleyball, Shroud built a fire for a barbeque."

I let out a shocked laugh, "You guys know we aren't on vacation, ri—"

Luca pulled me into him, his hands settling on my hips, "Come on. We all need the break. You need the break."

I swallowed down the excitement that fluttered through my body, fighting off my smile, "If you say so."

He bent his head, pressing his forehead against mine, "You'll join then?"

"I guess so," I bit my lip lightly, pressing my hands to his chest, enjoying the muscle under my palm, "only for a bit."

"So to confirm, no announcements, yes?" Luca wiggled his eyebrows, dropping a quick kiss to my cheek before pulling away, holding me at arms length.
