✮ ༄ 𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐑𝐒 𝐈𝐍 𝐘𝐎𝐔𝐑 𝐄𝐘𝐄𝐒 ༄✮ ACT II CHAPTER 10 ( the luck of the draw only draws the unlucky )
LEAVING HER HOUSE AND GOING DOWN CONCRETE STEPS, PEACEKEEPERS AWAITED TO TAKE HER TO THE CENTRE. Finnick left his house a second after, the pair sharing a sorrowful smile before all the Victors were escorted.
Evelyn passed the large crowds, giving her sister and father - who stood at the front - an assuring nod. She stood on the stage next to her redhead friend. Finnick and Zane stood the other side.
Evelyn dreaded Finnick's name being called, but she though it wasn't fair to ask Zane to volunteer for him. They've all been through enough, but it hit the eldest Victor the hardest.
Raven, no longer under the influence that the Capitol is perfect, approached the microphone. "Welcome, welcome. As we celebrate the seventy-fifth anniversary and third Quarter Quell of The Hunger Games. Like always, ladies first."
The escort glanced at Evelyn with sadness etched in her expression. Evelyn couldn't bring herself to look at her, instead, facing the masses of people.
The twinless twin knew she was going back in the games no matter what.
As Raven stuck her hand through the large fish bowl, the Mane held her breath. A memory from this morning coursing into the front of her mind.
Evelyn held both of Annie's shaking hands, telling her 'it's okay' repeatedly until she calmed. "Annie, if your name gets called... I'll volunteer for you."
"No, no..." She gasped, only for Eve to shake her head.
"You can't go through it again. I won't allow it."
Annie wrapped her arms around her best friend, crying even more.
Finally plucking a small slip of paper, she revealed it, a sigh escaping her mouth. "The female Tribute from District Four, Annie Cresta."
When a hand flew to Annie's mouth, a sob escaped her lips as Evelyn stepped forward.
"I volunteer as Tribute." She announced, dull in her voice. The blonde ignored the insanely worried and concerned look Finnick was giving her.
"Very well." Raven spoke in a dreaded tone. "And now for the men." She repeated her action with the opposite glass orb, pulling out one paper and leaving the other piece alone. "The male Tribute from District Four, Finnick Odair."
