ACT III CHAPTER 21
( i don't wanna miss you like this )

NO ONE COULD SLEEP. They were so used to cosy comforters and soft pillows that throughout the whole night, the three's eyes stayed open. The only thing that indicated it's night time was the lights shutting off.

Peeta and Evelyn mainly talked throughout the hours, trying to get their mind away from the fact they could be killed at any given moment. Johanna would join in every other conversation, but mainly stayed silent.

Evelyn wanted to hug her, cheer her up somehow. But all she could do was hold her hand through the thick bars. And surprisingly, that was enough for the woman from District Seven.

There was this endless cycle of feet clacking outside the steel doors then murmurs of conversations. Evelyn would eavesdrop, having nothing better to do with her time. She hoped to hear good news about District Thirteen... about Finnick.

But nothing.

Soon enough, the dimmed lights powered back on, making the blonde woman fully snap awake. Although, desperately needing sleep. She remembered once how sleeping used to be her favourite thing. Not anymore. Eve's nightmares had gotten worse without having her boyfriend by her side.

Evelyn constantly wonders what he'd be doing right now. If he's slowly losing himself without her or if he's managing to cope. She misses him like she misses Ace. A heart wrenching feeling took over her warmness. The same warmness that Finnick always gave her.

What she didn't know was that in Thirteen, Finnick Odair was quickly tearing himself apart. Wishing it was him in the Capitol instead of her. He'd take one look at Faye and see the image of Evelyn, wanting to burst into tears that she's not there in his arms.

A loud bang coming from the entrance snapped Eve out of her miserable trance. She watched as two Peacekeepers strode in, eyeing each person before laying their mean stares on her.

"Today's your lucky day, Miss Mane. Caesar has specially picked you for an interview." A gruff voice spoke beneath his mask.

Evelyn set her lips into a grim line, shooting daggers at them with her piercing blue eyes. The female Peacekeeper on the left had goosebumps forming across her covered arms.

Evelyn Mane was always known as the sweet, and nice Victor. Unless someone crossed her. Then she'd have no hesitation burying them. To make sure they felt scared in her presence. The blonde enjoyed having that power, and she craved it now, more than ever.
