The start of a new beginning

It was the year 2073, in Russia on a cool fall evening with a beautiful, bright sunset in the sky fading into night. "Ava!" said Rachel, shouting outside, "Come inside it's getting dark.'' "Coming." Ava shouted back. Ava, Rachel, and their parents lived in a small town in Abakan, and they all had pretty strong accents. Ava grabs her telescope and slowly walks back to her small home in the middle of a small neighborhood. The young girl and her older sister go inside and close the house door. She stares at her sister's deep, emerald eyes with wonder as she puts down the telescope.
Ava always admired her seventeen year old sister with her dirty blond hair and sparkly eyes. She had gotten it from her father, but Ava had gotten stuck with her mothers dark brown hair and eyes. "I noticed something strange looking into space today." said Ava "What is it?" her father asked. "Something's wrong with the planets! They're different..." "Different, how?" Rachel asks, confused. "They aren't in the correct place.'' Ava says, starting to wonder how the planets could suddenly disconnect from their places.
"That's not good, I hope someone notices so they can tell us what's happening." said their father, Dan. Ava nods.
"Well, you kids need to go sleep, it's getting late.'' said their mother, Dina, trying to change the subject.
"Okay, goodnight!'' said Ava. "See you in the morning," said Rachel.
Ava and Rachel walk up the stairs to their bedrooms. Ava opens the door to her bedroom as Rachel disappears into hers. Ava closes the door behind her and bends down onto her knees in front of her dresser. The drawer creaks open as she takes out a pair of soft, clean clothes. Ava gets off of her knees with the pair of clothes in her arms and walks to the hallway
bathroom. She goes inside, closes the door and locks it, so no one could walk in on her. She changes into the clothes and sets her dirty ones on the sink counter. She picks up her toothbrush and squeezes toothpaste on its rough bristles. Ava brushes her teeth, getting a minty flavor tossed around her mouth and rinses with water. She grabs her clothes and brings them to the small laundry room next to the stairs. Ava goes back into her room, closes her door, and lays in her bed thinking about her fathers medical lessons she would be taught in the morning. Then, Ava closes her eyes and drifts to sleep.
Sights of planets are such a wonderful thing to look at, thought Ava as she sat in the middle of a grass field. She could see huge planets in the glow of a dark purple sky. The planets were rotating ever so slightly, they were all different sizes in different places. They were the planets she had seen in the sky with the telescope. Saturn, Venus, Neptune, the Moon, and the dwarf planet Pluto.
Then, Ava wakes up to the early sunlight of the morning sky. Ava gets out of the tangled blanket and takes the first steps out of bed to a new day. She leaves her room and slowly walks down the stairs to the sight of her sister and parents with waffles at the table. "Good Morning, Ava!" said her mother, smiling at her. "Hello!" said Ava as she reached the bottom of the stairs.
She walks over to the dining room and grabs a chair. They had a dark brown wooden table that was only a few years old and was sparkling clean. Ava sits at the table where a plate of food had already been placed minutes ago. She grabs the half empty maple syrup bottle and pours a small puddle of it on her waffle. Syrup is an interesting thing, it is sticky and sweet and goes with breakfast, thought Ava as she picked up a fork and cut a bite size piece of waffle on her plate. She always admired the smallest things, she was amazed by the strangest things. She was alright at every class except science, she always had an A in science. It was her biggest interest for as long as she could remember.
After breakfast was over, Ava and her father had started her medical lessons. It seemed that he was the only father who taught his eleven year old daughter how to give stitches to someone with only a needle and thread. It was kind of disturbing, and yet helpful if someone was hurt and needed it badly. "Who would teach their kids this?" Ava would ask him. "Don't worry Ava, he taught me the same things when I was your age." said Rachel reading a book about plants on the couch in the room next to them. "It is important to know this. What if you are hurt and lost in the woods?" "Dad, when would that happen? Why would I be deep in the woods by myself?" asked Ava "We could go camping one day and get attacked by wolves!" their dad said, holding up his hands and making them look like claws. Ava just laughs and starts to answer more of her dad's questions. "What would you do if someone gets burned?" "Pour cold water on it and wrap it in a bandage," said Ava. "Good." said Dan.
The day went by in a blur, it was already sunset by the time Ava and Rachel got done with their target practice. "We should probably go inside, tomorrow is a school night." said Rachel out of breath from throwing knives at a wooden board set up in their backyard. "Okay." said Ava, tiredly. Ava and Rachel walk to the wooden board nailed to a tree and they start grabbing the handles to the knives and pulling them off the board. They collect all of the knives and bring them inside with them. "How was practice?" asked their mother, washing dishes. Her clothes were covered in water and she only had a few more glasses to wash. "Good." said Ava, putting her knives in a small brown leather bag.
Rachel yawns. "I'm going to bed," Rachel says with heavy eyes. "Me too." said Ava. Rachel and Ava walk up the stairs slowly, not wanting to go to school the next morning. They change clothes and brush their teeth. Then, they go to their rooms. Rachel goes to sleep, but Ava couldn't stop thinking about her dream where the planets were out of place. She wondered if it were the end or if it was just all in her head. She closes her eyes hoping it was normal. Then, Ava drifts to sleep, hoping to have a good day at school tomorrow.
After a night's rest, her alarm blares out waking her up for the day to start. She sits up and stretches, loosening her joints. She looks at the clock next to her that says 8:40 am. She had to be at school by nine o' clock and it took ten minutes to get to school. Ava grabs the blanket covering half of her body and pulls it to the side. She had kicked some of the blanket off of her in the night after getting too hot. Ava turns off the loud alarm and rubs her eyes. She gets out of bed and gets a clean pair of clothes. She goes to the bedroom door and locks it. Ava puts on a black T-shirt with blue jeans. She unlocks her bedroom door and goes to the hallway bathroom. She brushes her teeth and goes down stairs. She grabs a bag of bread and puts one slice in the toaster. Ava grabs her jungle vine green backpack and puts her math homework inside the front pocket as the bread pops half way out of the toaster. Ava grabs the crispy golden brown toast and starts to eat it quickly. It tasted good, but it was very plain without anything on it. Then, Rachel walks in the room wearing a white shirt with thin pink stripes going across it with black jeans. "Good morning, Ava." "Good morning!" said Ava, her voice muffled with toast. Then, she swallows. "Sorry, I'm late." "It's fine. Get in the car, I'll drive you to school." "Thanks!" said Ava, finishing her toast. Rachel and Ava leave the house and get in Rachel's red car that she got for her birthday. Rachel backs out of the driveway and pulls out onto the street. Ava stares out of the window while Rachel drives to her school. Ava watches the houses fly by and people walking down the street with their dogs or friends. They get to the school and pull over to the sidewalk. "Bye, Rachel." said Ava as she grabbed her bag out of the back seat. "Bye." says Rachel. Ava gets out of the car and swings her backpack around her arms. She walks into the school building and Rachel drives to her high school five miles away from there. Ava goes to her first class and sits down in her seat in the back of the classroom. She gets out her writing notebook and puts it on her small desk next to the popular girl. Ava always thought she was annoying and talked too much, so she tried to ignore her. Ava didn't have any friends, she never talked to anyone much. She was a loner, and she had told herself friends were a waste of time, but sometimes she looked around at all the other kids and their friends and felt lonely.
After school Rachel came back in the same spot every day in her shiny red car and brought Ava home. Every day seemed the same to Ava, she didn't really care that much though. She still had loving parents and the only friend she wanted, Rachel. Ava got in Rachel's car and they drove back home talking about how much school sucked and how everyone in their classes were annoying. They would soon get back home, do homework, then go outside and look through their telescope. The planets were still moving a little closer every few weeks. Closer and closer.
