I was tired, that’s the only thing I could describe myself as on Monday morning.
It was so strange though. Zoë, as we got off from her bike, had told me to rest the whole weekend which meant I’d have no practices with her, only my own free time. Ugh but I really couldn’t even touch my instruments for the whole of Saturday morning. They had been trembling still from the performance the night before. I was glad that we left like half an hour after that. I think Zoë could see in my face that I had had enough experiences for the night. I think.
God, but I just felt so horrible today.
I walked into form room with my back-pack hanging over one shoulder and some of my books pressed against my chest. No one was in as usual but as soon as I came in others started too. Of course, I’d always get here on time for that. It’s a strange accuracy ability I have… or just part of my anti-socialism.
Sitting on my desk I immediately set myself on the wooden surface. I just wanted to sleep so much but I wasn’t really sleepy, just tired. Almost as if my body was fatigued but my mind knows I got enough sleep. Something was wrong with me. So strange.
Sigh…
“Aww. So bright and shiny today and you’re sighing so hard?” Alex whispered to me. “ Is something wrong?”
I peeked up from my arms and saw Zoë with her back slightly turned on her desk. She was being considerate as she perfectly knew how I just didn’t appreciate uncommon attention in school.
She looked towards the door for a few seconds but then glanced at me because I didn’t answer. When her eyes met mine, we locked into a temporary stare that just lasted a few moments before I buried my head back into my arms.
Maybe it was the cold? It’s pretty much winter already. We’d even be off from school on Friday for the holidays… God, who knows?
After pretending to be my usual self for 15 minutes as the teacher took register and told us the school announcements, the bell rang and I headed towards my first class. Math at Higher Level. Why would I take that? Normal math is too boring, and this kept me from speaking to anyone else in class.
Of course though, the now school beauty is in my class attracting all the nerdy boys to our table. Why did she seat next to me in the first place? Let me remind you. So that no one would bother her because she’d be next to me. Good enough but it was in exchange of HER not bothering ME.
“Can’t believe this is basically first year of college mathematics.” Zoë whispered as the teacher explained something about graphs I knew already.
I set my cheek on my hand and stared mindlessly at the whiteboard instead of the projection. “I guess… I’m not even going to do Math after high school.” I whispered to her. “It’s just because I skipped the subject during my other years.”
Zoë turned to me, or at least that’s what I felt somehow.“And you’re able to understand all of this?” She asked with a surprised tone.
“Well, you haven’t really been in school for ages so it’s not THAT surprising, Zoë.” I told her.
The teacher started handing out work-sheets after that which I finished in a flash. Most classes to me were boring in this school mainly because I’d finish things too quickly. Possibly because I’ve never really talked to anyone during it so my concentration is quite good in academics.
Classes went by until it was finally lunch. I went quickly to my locker, or as quickly as I could (considering how horrible I felt) and grabbed my sandwich.
Knowing how I’m not really fond of crowds I started walking towards the outside of the school. I preferred to eat somewhere around the bleachers alone than the cafeteria alone. I mean, caught a lot of attention anyways so it was better outside.
