8:49am,
Simi's apartment,
Abuja.

Simi stood in her cozy kitchen, wearing a warm sweater as she washed the dishes from last night's dinner, trying to distract herself from the restless thoughts that had been swirling in her mind and kept her up all night. The morning sunlight streamed through the window, casting a warm glow on her face.

As she rinsed off the last plate, her phone rang with a familiar video call tone. It was Teng. She eagerly dried her hands with a towel and picked up the call.

"Hey, Teng." Simi greeted him warmly, feeling a mix of concern and curiosity as his face lit up on her phone screen.

Teng returned her smile. "Hey." He looked around his hotel room and added, "I would have called earlier, but we got here late last night, and I thought you might be asleep."

She chuckled softly. "I couldn't sleep, actually. How's everything there?"

"It's alright. Ada left early this morning to Tiara's house for the bridal shower arrangements." He informed her, answering her unsaid questions.

Simi's heart sank a little, feeling a stab of disappointment. "Oh, I wish I could be there to help."

Teng's tone softened. "I wish you were here too, Simi. It's not the same without you. And this hotel has everything." He then shifted the conversation, looking curious. "Quick one Simi, who is Bode? Ada and I met him last night at the reception and the vibe was weird."

"Oh, Bode is the hotel manager," she replied. "He and Ada dated briefly before, but it's in the past now."

"Hmm, ain't that something. Thanks for filling me in." Teng nodded, his tone filled with understanding. Simi was curious at his reaction, but she didn't press further.

"I'm glad you guys are okay. I've been sick worried since yesterday. I wish I could talk to Ada now. Tell her to call me? I think she's angry with me." She adjusted the camera angle, ensuring that Teng could see her clearly.

"I don't think so. She's just been stressed. I'll get her to call you though."

Simi took a deep breath, realizing she couldn't keep her feelings bottled up anymore. "Honestly, Teng, I've been feeling a mix of emotions lately," She took a moment to gather her thoughts. "I regret not being at  Tiara's wedding, the bridal shower too," she confessed. "I've let my emotions get the best of me, and now I'm missing out on something this special."

Teng's eyes softened, and he reached out to touch the screen as if he could comfort her through the video call. "Simi, it's okay. We all make mistakes, what's important is that you're taking ownership of your feelings now. You're a strong and independent woman, believe that."

A sense of relief washed over her as his words sank in. She smiled gratefully at him and rested with her elbows on the freezer in her kitchen. "Thank you, Teng. I appreciate your understanding."

He smiled back, his eyes filled with warmth. "Yeah sure. I have to go down for breakfast now. Ada said it's a fancy spot, that everything for the wedding guests is already paid for and I plan to have a bountiful meal. Take care Simi."

Simi nodded, feeling more regret for missing out. "I will. You too, and have a wonderful time with Ada. Please tell her to call me or at least pick my calls."

After their video call ended, Simi stood in her kitchen, feeling a wave of remorse washed over her, and a sense of disappointment. Her heart ached as she replayed their conversation in her mind, wishing she could have done things differently from the start.
