8:47pm,
the Coker's estate.

After a successful wedding ceremonny, Adam took his time in his room, ensuring he looked presentable and less stressed for the family dinner downstairs, even though he was stressed out. The past few days of being back in Nigeria for his sister's wedding had been exceptionally eventful and now that it was all winding down, he felt a sense of relief and urgency at the same time.

He retrieved a tiny orange medication bottle from on top of his bedside drawer, carefully selected a pill, and swallowed it down with a glass of refreshing water. Glancing at his reflection in the mirror, he tidied up his appearance and spritzed a hint of cologne on his neck and wrists before making his way out and towards the tail of the grand staircase.

As he descended, he noticed the shift in the atmosphere of his home. What was once a lively and bustling party had transformed into a night of intimate gathering. The room now housed only his immediate family, Aunty Shaffy, the groom's immediate family, and a select few close friends of the couple, totaling approximately fifteen individuals.

His attention was immediately drawn to the long dining table, where the younger ladies including Simi and Ada were talking, laughing and serving various dishes. Amidst them, Adam's eyes locked onto a surprising presence, someone he couldn't recall seeing earlier throughout the event. He frowned.

"Adesuwa?" he called out, his voice filled with both surprise and intrigue.

"Heeey, Adam," Suwa's heart-shaped face lit up with a warm smile when she turned around to face him. "I was told you were upstairs. You remember me?"

"Are you serious? Of course," he replied, closing the distance between them and reaching out to take the tray from her manicured hands, placing it gently on the dining table and taking in her full appearance with a smile on his face. How could he ever forget her?

As expected, Adesuwa's outfit effortlessly caught everyone's attention, stealing Tiara's spotlight at her own wedding dinner. The knee-length body-hugging yellow dress she donned highlighted her feminine silhouette and complemented her dark skin tone, allowing her natural beauty to shine through, just like he remembered her.

"Well, I didn't see you at the wedding. How did I miss you?" he asked.

Suwa's expression turned momentarily sad as they entered into the kitchen, past Ada and Simi.  "Yeah, unfortunately I missed it, yeah the whole thing. I literally just got here like fifteen minutes ago," 'Suwa responded simply, but with regret and exhaustion in her voice.

Tiara walked in and suddenly interjected, "Suwa finished filming a movie in Ghana yesterday but then her flight got delayed this morning. You know same thing happened to Ada too. She and Teng had to travel by road from Abuja to get here in time. The airlines have been a mess all weekend, and it just had to be my wedding weekend," she scoffed.

Adam looked shocked, his eyes widened. "What? For real? Is that like a normal thing around here?"

"In Nigeria? Yup. Abnormal things are the normal things here, I keep telling you." Tiara responded with a sigh before heading back to the dining room.

"Now that's really fucked up. You guys are going through a lot in this country," Adam said, now facing Adesuwa.

Suwa brushed off the mishap with a smile. "I don't even want to talk about it anymore. It's better late than never, right? 'Cause...I'm already here and the day isn't over yet."

"Far from over," Adam teased and she smiled more brightly, shrugging her shoulders. "Er, I'm sorry you had to go through all that. It's good to see you again anyway. You look dashing, as always."
