** FLASHBACK- 10 YEARS AGO**

Saint Agnes Hospital,
Ibadan, NIG

ANGRILY ... more like madly, Adam stormed into the hallway, his footsteps echoing off the walls, drawing the attention of everyone nearby. Even the janitor peeked out of the storage room, curious about the commotion.

"Calm down! Come here!" His aunty's voice cut through the tension, her tone desperate as she ran after him, adding to the spectacle.

"Adam! You can't see her now. I'm talking to you! Calm down! Iwo Olohun! What is all these? Adam!" Dunni's voice rose with exasperation as she removed her headgear, hastily tying it around her waist, and chased after Adam, her footsteps echoing down the corridor.

He didn't listen, he didn't stop, walking huge steps up the stairs towards the "Emergency Unit", not listening to anything anyone was saying, his aunty or the whispers in the background. Ab'oti ya were ni? His heart was racing and drumming in his ears. His mother was inside one of those rooms, almost lifeless and he had to see her. He couldn't afford to lose her too.

"Adam! Why are you so stubborn? I'm telling you to calm down and listen to me." His aunt's voice trailed behind him, desperate and gasping for breath as they reached the top of the stairs. She reached out to touch his arm, but he shrugged her off, his focus fixed on the looming door marked "EU."

He halted in front of the huge door, his tearstained face was puffy, swollen with grief and his throat held back something between a sob and a shout. His mother's immediate younger sister stood by some inches away and tried to catch her breath alongside a nurse, sadness all over their faces.

"Calm down? How can I calm down, Aunty Dunni?" His voice trembled with raw emotion as he turned to face them. "Sam just... he just died. My twin brother is gone, and we don't even know why. And now Maami—" He gestured towards the closed door, his voice catching in his throat. "She's in there, fighting for her life, and I can't lose her too. I can't..." His voice faltered, breaking into sobs of despair.

"Not again!" he groaned in misery.

Dunni's heart ached as she approached him, her steps heavy with the weight of sympathy. She wrapped her arms around him, holding him tightly as he cried into her shoulder.

"Sam was my son too, and it's my big sister in that room," she whispered, her voice filled with emotion. "Adam, I know how hard it is for us now, but we have to be strong. Sister mi cannot die. If she had, the doctors would have come out to us, think about it." She nodded towards the nurse, silently urging him to trust the professionals. "Busting in there will not change anything. Please, stop crying."

She rubbed his back gently, trying to soothe his deep sobs of agony. But suddenly, he pulled away from her, his fists clenched, his eyes swollen with pain.

"Adam... please I'm begging you, stop crying." Aunty Dunni's voice cracked with desperation. "What do you expect your little sister Tiara to do if she sees you like this? She's already confused enough down there. We have to put our faith in God that your mother will pull through this."

"God?" His voice trembled, mingled with sobs. "Aunty Dunni, how do you still believe there's a god after everything that's happened to my family?"
