2:17pm,
Coker's estate.

The Coker's estate was a sprawling property with lush green gardens and tall trees. The main house, a majestic colonial-style mansion, stood at the heart of  it all, its whitewashed walls and verandas exuding an air of elegance. Surrounding the mansion were manicured lawns and colorful flowers.

Beyond it, winding pathways led to various amenities scattered throughout the estate. Tennis courts glistened in the sunlight, while a sparkling swimming pool called for leisurely dips on hot afternoons.

As Adam and Yara arrived, apprehension and familiarity enveloped him, like a cloak of conflicting emotions. The grandeur of the estate loomed before them, a stark contrast to the turmoil brewing within his heart.

Leading the way to the main house, he felt his burden growing heavier with each step, the air crackling with tension as they entered the opulent building, adorned with elegant furnishings and golden light filtering through the windows.

Upon entering the grand foyer, Feyi Coker was seated gracefully amidst the splendor of her surroundings, and reading an ELLE magazine. Adam wearing a leather jacket on a T-shirt and jeans stood before her, his face etched with a myriad of emotions. Yara, in a round neck tucked into a black pair of shorts, sneakers and a purse across her shoulder stood behind him, a silent pillar of support amidst the storm brewing within his soul.

Feyi looked up, her expression a mix of surprise and concern at the unexpected visit from her son.

"Adam, what's wrong?" she asked, placing the magazine on the side table. She noticed the tension radiating from him.

"Maami, we need to talk," Adam's voice was firm, his eyes burning with anger and pain.

He motioned for Yara to join him, steeling himself for the difficult conversation ahead. "I need Yara here for this. She's family now and I think she needs to hear what I'm about to say."

His mother nodded, her expression shifting to one of understanding. "Of course. Come here my dear." She welcomed them inside, her warm embrace offering a brief respite from the weight of Adam's burdens. Yara, perched on the edge of a nearby armchair, looking at Adam with a mixture of concern and curiosity.

Taking a seat opposite his mother, Adam took a deep breath, his resolve faltering for a moment as he struggled to find the right words. "It's about Simi," he began, the words heavy on his tongue. "She's involved in Sam's death. She confessed everything to me, before she took off."

He wasted no time in recounting the tumultuous events of the past few days to his mother. His voice quivered with a mix of anger and frustration as he unraveled the truth about Simi's involvement in his twin brother's death and her sudden disappearance. With each word, the floodgates of emotion burst open, releasing a torrent of pent-up feelings that had long been suppressed since his return to Nigeria. He spoke of his determination to uncover the truth about his brother's death, no matter what happened. With each word, Feyi listened intently, her gaze filled with maternal concern.

When Adam finally fell silent, the air hung with the heaviness of their collective grief. To his surprise, his mother's reaction was not as explosive as he had anticipated. She remained remarkably composed, her eyes reflecting a profound understanding of her son's pain.

"I know, Adam," Feyi responded. "Your aunt, Shaffy already told me everything. I've been waiting for you to come to me."

Adam's surprise was evident, his anger momentarily eclipsed by confusion. "Wait, you knew?" he asked, his voice tinged with disbelief.

"Yes, I knew. And I understand why Shaffy kept it from us. This situation is far more dangerous than you realize."

"Maami, how can you be so calm about this? Simi played a part in Sam's death! She lied to me, Aunty Shaffy lied to us," Adam's voice cracked with emotion, his hands trembling with pent-up rage.
