——— THE DECISION ———
❝ You've never hurt me. You've only made me feel safe. And I've...I've never felt that way before in my entire life ❞
——— THE LOUD BANG of the Allfather's bed chambers doors opening echoed harshly through the halls. The King paced back and forth before his windows, anger building as his sons and wife hurried into the chamber.
Prince Thor and Prince Loki stood by the doors nervously as Queen Frigga approached her husband, "Odin, my love. What is the matter?" she asked but the King stayed silent, his temper brewing, "Alright...we shall call for tea and once you are strong enough, we may all go back out there. Lady Kaarina will understand," she then glanced back at her sons, "Please go fetch some tea for your father—"
"I do not want tea!" The Allfather suddenly roared and they all looked at him, tensed up. He then placed his eyes on both his sons, "What I want is the truth..."
But both Odinson Brothers were frozen, eyes widened in pure panicked shock. Silence.
"Oh? So suddenly words fail you? What a coincidence!"
"Odin," Frigga sternly said and he shook his head, turning away from the three, "I would like to know what's upsetting you so—?"
"Oh, I thought I'd seen it all," Odin muttered, "I have been through heartaches, loosing friends, leading battles. Winning them, loosing them. I thought nothing could surprise me anymore—"
"Father..." Loki spoke up, stepping forward. But tensed up when the Allfather spun around, facing him again.
"You have feelings for her!" he snapped and Loki froze in his spot as Thor himself was struggling to move. Frigga stared at her husband agaped before closing her eyes, sighing, "All this time, you have wanted the Lady Kaarina for yourself! She is your brother's bride, not yours!"
"Father..." Thor spoke up this time, but Odin shot him a look.
"Do not defend your brother this time," he said and Thor pursed his lips as Odin stared at him intently. And then Frigga as well, a realization dawning on him, "You already knew — all of you knew and you didn't think to tell me!"
Frigga opened her mouth to speak but Odin continued on, "I've been a fool," he muttered, "I fooled myself into believing you only had the purest of intentions, that your only desire was for your brother to be content. For your nephew to live in peace!"
"Father...it wasn't like that...at first. I assure you," Loki told him.
"Do you love her?" Odin harshly asked and Loki's expression dropped.
"What?"
"You told us that you hated each other," Odin said as his eyes glossed over, "But...that can only mean...your feelings are strong—" He placed his eyes back on his nervous looking son, "Do...you...love...her?"
