chapter nine,
𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐀𝐕𝐄𝐍𝐆𝐄𝐑𝐒

——— DROPPING DOWN TO THE GROUND, TRAPPED IN THE GLASS CAGE, Triston and Thor bounced off the jumping cell pod. As it drew closer to land, Thor tried to swing at the glass, but missed.

In one last final attempt before crashing, Thor positioned himself onto the glass door before leapfrogging out with Triston following his actions. The cell crashed onto a nearby ocean shore as Triston and Thor crashed out into a meadow.

———

Some time later, Thor was pacing back and forth in that meadow while Triston was kneeled down in the grass, shaking his head, overwhelmed with how far things had gotten. A little girl. He had taken a little girl. That wasn't the kind of person Triston remembered his uncle to be. His uncle wasn't a warm or kind person, but he wouldn't kidnap children.

Suddenly, he was nudged towards the ground a bit before glancing up, meeting his father's determined eyes. "Come on," he said, pulling his son to his feet, "We must save Lidianna from Loki's grasps."

Triston's eyes lit up, blinking repeatedly. "You believe me?" he asked.

"Of course I believe you," Thor said, "I saw the look Lidianna had after Loki took Lady Emma. I saw that blue glimmer in her eyes you spoke of. It faded away, and she looked..."

"Scared," Triston said and Thor nodded.

"I'm gonna help Lidianna, not just because she's my niece but because...she's Kaarina's daughter — and if Loki won't protect her, I will," Thor told him and Triston grinned.

At the Stark Tower in New York, Erik worked around the CMS device that had already been set upon the rooftop of the tower while Loki dragged Emma into the penthouse. Lidianna reluctantly followed after them, watching as Emma tried to fight her father, to attempt to get out of his grip, but he was stronger in every possible way. He forced her down in a chair, tied her up, though she continued to fight it. "My father, he'll come for me!" she growled but flinched horribly when Loki suddenly swung in front of her, staring her right in the eye, a smirk on his lips.

"That's what I'm counting on," he said and Lidianna eyed him confused before he stepped away from the girl.

Suddenly, Loki, Lidianna, and Emma's attention was pulled when they saw Iron Man land on the balcony of the building. Lidianna thickly gulped while Loki began to pace around Emma, all of them watching Iron Man go through the gauntlet on the balcony, which unsuited him, before he walked into the penthouse.
