We walked in the paddock the next day with Luna. She was looking at everything and everyone as we were walking in the Mclaren hospitality.
Zak immediately walked to us and looked at Luna. He already met her a couple of times but he treated her like it was his granddaughter. It was very cute.
"Are you gonna watch your dad in our garage today?" He asked her. She nodded enthusiastically. "Daddy vrooom" she pretended to be driving. Lando started laughing. "Yes daddy is gonna be on pole today for you" he pointed at Luna. They were so cute together. He was definitely a very protective dad but also very soft with her.
I was quite the opposite. I would protect her too but I was much more strict and I would lose my temper from time to time.
I knew Lando didn't like that at all. If he was home he would always try to calm me down. It just wasn't easy sometimes to raise her alone most of the times while he was doing the thing he loved.
I also had to deal with pictures and rumours online, which didn't help our relationship at all. I trusted him and he trusted me, but sometimes the big green jealous monster came back.
"I'll show her the garage so you can hang out with Chloe" Lando said as he took her from me. "Thank you" I mumbled at him. I could use some girl time with her and he knew that.
He always noticed these things.I almost ran to the Red Bull hospitality. I don't know why but I liked it here way more than in the Mclaren one. This hospitality felt more like home even though Lando was in the other one.
Chloe and Max were sitting on a table together. I don't think he used his driver room very much, probably only to calm down after a race.
"My two favorite Red Bull people" I said as I walked to their table. They both looked up. "Oh my God where is Luna? I thought you'd bring her" Chloe threw her hands up and shook her head. "Calm down drama queen. She's with Lando, he's showing her his car" I laughed as I sat down with them.
"Do you wanna go grab drinks together after quali?" I looked at Chloe. It has been such a long time since I went out and I knew she was always up to things like that.
Or so I thought, because her face dropped a little. "What about Luna?" She asked. "I'm sure Lando will look after her for one evening" he had to get used to that anyways because I will sometimes have to work during the evenings.
"Yeah true, but I'm pretty tired" she lied. I knew it was a lie. I knew her better than this. I frowned. Why didn't she want to grab drinks with me?I didn't stay for very long. It felt a bit weird. Max didn't talk much and Chloe used several excuses to not go drinking with me. I was almost tempted to ask Lexi if she wanted to go with me. Almost.
Quali was about to start anyways so I hurried back to the Mclaren garage. Lando was still standing in the garage with her on his arm but I knew he wanted to get ready for quali.
"Sorry sorry, I am late" I ran to him. "We almost thought you left us" he laughed as he put Luna in my arms. "I would never" I laughed but I was serious. "Good luck and be safe" I said as I pressed my lips against his.
He nodded and waved at Luna before putting his helmet on.
I started to hate his job more and more over the years. It was so dangerous and I couldn't imagine what I would do if I lost him, I didn't want to imagine that.Zak gave us headphones to protect our ears. Luna looked so cute while wearing them. It was the first time she would watch Lando from the garage.
I usually always went to the hospitality with her to protect her from the loud noises.
"Look Luna, that's daddy" I yelled as I pointed at the screen who was showing his orange car.
It started to rain, harder and harder. I hated this even more because it gave me flashbacks to his crash.
He wasn't an aggressive driver at all but everything could happen in the rain.
I started biting my lip, I was nervous. Why couldn't he have a normal job? A 9 to 5 job so I didn't need to worry every single weekend.
